How does one go about putting this into motion... Ya cant get Congress to cut themselves down to nothing... They have gotten filthy rich off the lobbiest and will continue to do so. No wonder so many people want a job like that.. but the bad part is they dont have to be in office but a few short months... saying they are at their district campaigning.. Who said they are doing this.. is it THEM who say they are out campaigning... Wanna bet they are running the roads playing golf or sitting by a pool enjoying a cool one... I assure you they are not campaigning... or working... no one follows them around seeing what they are doing... now do they...

maybe by starting at the bottom with state and local officials and working our way up to the president by researching behind the scenes to really see what they are all about before voting for them might get rid of a lot of the corruption?

That is the $64 Thousand Dollar Question and I wish I had the answer! Right now, my intentions are to vote this INCUMBENT OUT! I am DISSATIFIED with that person's performance, because that person wasn't thinking about the Needs of the Constituents when that Incumbent voted. I am not saying that is the answer to the problem, but what have I got to loose. I am just SICK AND TIRED of the way our Country is being Governed, from the President down to the last Member Of Congress, and I am ready for a CHANGE!

For the commenters, one and all: First the posting format is terrible as one cannot determne who is talking to who. and as to who said what about which issue(s). Also, all too many commenters use indefinite pronouns which further obscures the continuity. Also, a two-year term does not even give a person time to sort out the "in-house" procedures, and who is who, and much legislation requires more than 2-years to get "massaged" and passed. I stick with my 2-four year terms for the house, and retaining the present (single) six and 4 year terms for the Senate and the Oval Office. Members of both houses, if otherwise qualified, could run for the presidency but first must resign their present office (we don't want any elected or appointed officials, running for another office at government expense (other than the house, which would have a 2-term eligibility). Also, a house member should be eligible to run for a senate seat, but not vice-versa (but must resign their present seat). Also, a pension plan for all is a necessity, as not only to set the example for private industry but to compensate those who give so much time out of their working years. The pension should be a fully portable, contributory, defined contribution plan, with one's pensions being that which the individual's total accumulation would support at their normal retirement age. I also believe congresspersons should be paid by the state they represent, with a cap of 3-times the annual median salary of the citizens in the state they represent---when their citizens make more, they can make more. Also, we must compensate our elected representatives with wages that match the responsibilities, and rewords them for the time away from their home state.

O.K., lets try to logic this out.
1.- As many have stated, Congress will not set up rules that limit their earning possibilities.
a.- Who made up the rule that says that Congress does not participate in the ACA? Who made up the rule that Congress can vote themselves a raise when ever they want to? Who made up the rule that Congress does not participate in Social Security and that after a two year term in office they can retire at full pay? And on and on, Congress made these rules!! Why are they allowed to do these things? Because WE, THE PEOPLE let them do it because we either don't care enough to get up and scream, or we are living in a nether world of totally unknowing bliss.
b.- Don't forget that most of the Congressmen are Lawyers, which means that they learn how to steal as part of the law school curriculum!
2.- If these Congressmen are in the right district, they do not even have to campaign for re-election because it is guaranteed, gerrymandering, democrats in districts that always vote democratic, republicans in districts that always vote republican, and they set up the districts to their liking, no rules except, one hand washing the other. The Congresswoman in my district is a democrat and has drooled over the ACA from the start, trying to ingratiate herself with the DNC so that they will change her district because the election will be too close to call and she may actually lose!
3.- How do we fight this group of manipulators/crooks?
a.- We already know that voting will not do it so we must push our states to exert their rights and force a Constitutional Convention.
