Hit the wrong button here. I do that a lot.

If your medical problem is mental, a fishing rod just might be the medicine you need. Nothing calms a troubled mine better than sitting on a river bank, watching the waves, and hoping the fish don't bite because you don't want to cook then.

Whew....and here I was thinking fishing rodoscopy.
What a relief.

This was right after the war. I am old but not quite of that generation. I was born in 1949.

Since Obamacare can't possibly fund itself, are we going to have to contribute to fund this atrocity wit almost everything we buy?

Americans’ wallets begin feeling the employer mandate sting

The small business mandate doesn’t go into effect until 2015, but restaurants across the country are already passing the extra costs associated with having to offer healthcare to their employees on to consumers.

The Gator Group’s full-time hourly employees won’t actually receive health insurance until December. But the company said it implemented the surcharge now because of the compliance costs it’s facing ahead of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate kicking in in 2015.

This is not a tax on medical devices and has nothing to do with the ACA it is rather an existing tax on imported and manufactured goods. If the ACA is so bad why is it that the vast majority of complaints about the act are false?

Check this out.

CABELA'S
Medical Excise Tax on Retail Receipts?

The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be "hidden" from the consumer, but it's been brought to the public's attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela's who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts, the email states.

I did some research and found directly from the IRS's website information that PROVES this to be true and an accurate portrayal of something hidden in Obamacare that I was not aware of! Now being skeptical of this I went to the IRS website and found this!

Q1. What is the medical device excise tax? A1. Section 4191 of the Internal Revenue Code imposes an excise tax on the sale of certain medical devices by the manufacturer or importer of the device.

Q2. When does the tax go into effect? A2. The tax applies to sales of taxable medical devices after Dec. 31, 2012.

Q3. How much is the tax? A3. The tax is 2.3 percent of the sale price of the taxable medical device. See Chapter 5 of IRS Publication 510, Excise Taxes, and Notice 2012-77 for additional information on the determination of sale price. IRS.gov <http://irs.gov/> <http://irs.gov/>

Chapter Five http://www.irs.gov/publications/p510/ch05.html <http://www.irs.gov/publications/p510/ch05.html>

So being more curious I clicked on "Chapter 5 Of IRS Publication 510."

And what do I find under "MEDICAL DEVICES" under "MANUFACTURERS TAXES"?

The following discussion of manufacturers taxes

Applies to the tax on:

Sport fishing equipment;

Fishing rods and fishing poles;

Electric outboard motors;

Fishing tackle boxes;

Bows, quivers, broad heads, and points;

Arrow shafts;

Coal;

Taxable tires;

Gas guzzler automobiles;

and

Vaccines.

We have been lied to again, if we believe that the Affordable Care Act is all about health care. It is a monstrous law that will ration health care while bankrupting the country, and a law with a whole lot of taxes that we the people have yet to be made aware of.

It is a political con to gain more control. It is also a method to obtain more taxes for the Democrats to buy the votes of the ignorant and uninformed and those who want something for nothing.

I guess it’s just like Nancy Pelosi said, "We have to pass it to see what is in it." Well, what is next? What else is there we do not know about? Where is the press? O yes, it's in the tank for Obama.

I bought several items for my bass boat right before Christmas from Cabela's and my receipt doesn't have that tax on it. I have saved it for warranty issues if I ever had any for what I bought. I did buy my stuff online though and had it shipped to the house. I've seen nothing about this on fishing sites I visit but I will check it out.

Everyplace we buy products is adding this tax. So, let us say that you spend $6000 a year on eating out, entertainment, or vacationing you will have given the government $138 each year, multiply that by approximately 300,000,000. Income from this tax will be about 5,306,700,000,000 dollars a year. Pretty crafty way of fleecing the Citizens of the US! And should you think that the poor is exempt, no if they buy any product they too will be paying.

I will check this out the next time I go into a hunting and fishing store. I buy a lot of fishing equipment.
I'm glad I am the age I am. I won't have to see this country become a socialist state.

I just got back from Home Depot and there isn't a tax like that on my receipt of $32.97 for the stuff I just bought. I've never seen a tax like that on anything I've bought recently and my wife looks at every receipt we get since we have spent a bunch on the house in the last month.

Many times the tax is not part of the receipt. It is added on as a cost of the product, therefore hidden.
