Many times the tax is not part of the receipt. It is added on as a cost of the product, therefore hidden.

Correct!

Anytime there is a tax or extra charge to a manufacturing company, that cost is always passed on to the customer. If they did not, then they would not be in business for very long. We would have to be very foolish not to pass it on, and when they manage to raise the minimum wage, look for that to also be passed along. We can deny that it happens, which is like a kid holding their hands over their eyes and pretending that no one can see them.

Could be just like everything you buy. I'll see what else I can find about this later today after the floor people are gone.

Americans’ wallets begin feeling the employer mandate sting

The small business mandate doesn’t go into effect until 2015, but restaurants across the country are already passing the extra costs associated with having to offer healthcare to their employees on to consumers.

The Gator Group’s full-time hourly employees won’t actually receive health insurance until December. But the company said it implemented the surcharge now because of the compliance costs it’s facing ahead of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate kicking in in 2015.

If $.20 added to my restaurant bill will insure the employees get health insurance, I'm happy to pay it.

I bought several items for my bass boat right before Christmas from Cabela's and my receipt doesn't have that tax on it. I have saved it for warranty issues if I ever had any for what I bought. I did buy my stuff online though and had it shipped to the house. I've seen nothing about this on fishing sites I visit but I will check it out.

It started Jan 1st, 2014.

No, the mistake is posting this issue as propaganda!

Here Woofy, I'll post S4191 again so maybe you will read it this time.
You are so wrong, so many times, on so many levels that it's laughable...and so are your posts.

Here's that terminology t***slated from "Medical Device Excise Tax" to "manufacturers excise tax".

Section 4191, enacted by section 1405 of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, Public Law 111-152 (124 Stat. 1029 (2010)), in conjunction with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Public Law 111-148 (124 Stat. 119 (2010)), imposes an excise tax on the sale of certain medical devices. The excise tax imposed by § 4191 is 2.3% of the price for which the taxable medical device is sold. The medical device excise tax is codified in chapter 32, subtitle D of the Code (“chapter 32”), which pertains to excise taxes imposed on the sale or use of taxable articles by manufacturers, producers, and importers (commonly referred to as “manufacturers excise taxes”). See § 48.0-2(a)(4)(i) of the Manufacturers and Retailers Excise Tax Regulations (the “regulations”) (which defines the term “manufacturer” to include a “producer” and an “importer”). As a result, the existing chapter 32 rules, including the regulations issued thereunder, apply to the medical device excise tax.

CHAPTER 32, SUBTITLE D APPLY TO THE MEDICAL DEVICE EXCISE TAX!

Cabela's receipt lists the main reason for this tax because they are not afraid of this regime and will gladly inform the people...as will other GOOD businesses that refuse to hide this crap from their customers as the gov suggests they do.

This is not a tax on medical devices and has nothing to do with the ACA it is rather an existing tax on imported and manufactured goods. If the ACA is so bad why is it that the vast majority of complaints about the act are false?

Please present some factual source information to support your opinion that, "the vast majority of complaints about the act are false"

I just got back from Home Depot and there isn't a tax like that on my receipt of $32.97 for the stuff I just bought. I've never seen a tax like that on anything I've bought recently and my wife looks at every receipt we get since we have spent a bunch on the house in the last month.

Most will hide this tax....Cabela's exposed it.

"The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be "hidden" from the consumer, but it's been brought to the public's attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela's who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts."

This would be absolutely none of my business; however, I will take a chance and possibly bring forth your usual customary rudeness. If your floors are being varnished, please make sure you can fully circulate and vent the air in your home. There are ingredients in varnish that can cause lightheadedness and other physical maladies.

I know you have probably done your due diligence. There are things that can be "sneaky" in effecting your health during housing renovations. Be safe and well.

I've heard that. Also that drinking gasoline can be fatal and sniffing glue causes brain damage.

I was trying to be kind. Just because I may not agree with him often does not mean I would wish illness on he or his family. Periodically, I may wish to use my cast iron sk**let on him, but that is only a temporary smack. :(
