Odd Parking sign - "No Parking between 2am & 4am"

While driving around today, we stopped to admire the view at a small beach on a lake, and I noticed this sign on the parking spot beside where we parked. It says "No Parking between 2am and 4am". The sign was for only one parking spot (standard size parking spot for a car) in the middle of about 30 other parking spots. There was no driveway, no gate in the fence and no reason that I could see why someone is not allowed to park in that particular spot in the wee small hours of the night, every night. Any thoughts on what on earth could be happening then?

They probably figured people could figure it out, I'll let you ponder it.

It's probably a local thing. I asked a few people sitting on their porches, and they looked at me like I had two heads.

It's Hammondsport, NY

The sign is posted for all parking spots, not just the one it is posted in front of. They intended " no overnight parking".

That's when they feed the lake monsters and they don't need no stinking witnesses.

Most bars close at 2 AM, you drive to the lake and park. You either sleep it off, have sex, or drown. That's my best guess.

Yes, but according to her, all the other spots were good to go all night, maybe she missed critical thinking class😅

That's right. The sign was only in front of one spot. There were about 30 spots, and that sign was at about the 12th spot from the entrance. It's just a very small town at the bottom of Lake Keuka, NY (one of the Finger Lakes). I think there is one bar in the whole town.

Hi EmilyD, I lived with my Grandparents until I was 8, a mile south of Scipio Center, NY. while my Dad was deployed. We were between Cayuga lake and Oswego lake. It's beautiful country in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. All of those lakes are cold as heck but great to swim and fish in. Mike

It is such beautiful country here! We've pretty much "visited" all the finger lakes...I'm sure we drove near or even through Scipio Center! I know we've driven down Rte. 34. I never get tired of the scenery, summer OR winter! Right now it is gorgeous - 72 degrees, clear skies, flowers everywhere! So much to see and do!
