The moment of silence has a possibility but I would like it to have a more meaningful end to it. The round robin would expose the children to others religions and there could be questions and answers with that as well. If we understand each other it could create a more harmonious atmosphere for the children and hopefully they would understand where each is coming from.

Yes exactly, I think that would be excellent. It would create a better understanding of each other and give them a feeling of acceptance between each other and possibly help the bullying issue.

Kids are more understanding than adults are and if they a=or their friend prays and they are of a different faith they can ask questions and gaun an even more in depth understanding as to why Johnny or Mary believes as she or he does and that will build more bridges than it will destroy I think. I was raised one faith and my friends were all raised catholic and I went to church with them and I then understood them better. They never did reciprocate but that is that it was between them and their parents.

There's no reason for both not to happen, things like this in the curriculum need to be spearheaded by the parents but some Christian activists would probably find it corrupting their children's mind. I think it is the perfect time for high school students, or middle for that matter to study world religions.

As long as those students are made to realize that the world religions teach salvation through works and that Christianity is the only religion that teaches salvation through grace.

Did you ever think that maybe kids basically don't give a shit about religion? Why can't they grow up without being taught any religion at all? They may come to a belief on their own later that maybe there's a superior presence / creator. But shoving a particular religious belief down the throats of a kid who can't even read yet is just wrong. Religion has caused more wars over the centuries than fighting over land and resources.

That teaching is for the parents and the religious leaders. NOT the school or school teachers. To learn about each others religion is one thing. To teach specific religious beliefs is a whole other story.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. See my previous post. Why is teaching religion so important. Teaching respect for other people who think, look, and speak differently than you is important. And the whole "Do onto others......." thing. Maybe that was in the Bible. I don't know and don't care but it's words to live by. Organized religion equals conflict. Believe what you want but don't try to force your beliefs on others. If a damn Muslim tells me I must worship Moooohamed or be killed I'll just shoot the SOB. Problem solved. I didn't tell him he had to be a Christian or die. It's none of my business.

Agreed. I am not a Christian but did not teach my son that any religion was wrong. Starting about 5th grade he became curious about the religion of some of his friends. I not only allowed him to attend their religious services; I made a concerted effort to visit various different religious services, including Wicca. There was no mosque where we lived at the time so he never got Islam. But we did read about it along with many other religions. As a senior in high school he decided to become Buddhist.

Yep great idea and since we have removed God from school and the parents have dropped the ball and now our society is heading to hell in a handbasket and God forbid that we should ever introduce any positive ideals into these skulls full of mush now should we. Yep we got rid of God because we didn't want to offend anyone. Now how many school shootings and other mass murders will we go before we see a problem and it isn't the guns its the people stupid that are corrupt and are full of evil. Learning is best when young. We could also divide the classes up into different religion as the parents identify with and have their children in that class and they can learn about their religion and their faith that way that would be another way to do it. We could have the various pastors stay in the room as each and every other pastor gives their brief on hour description of their religion to the class. With the other pastors in the room that should keep everything on the up and up so to speak.

I don't think Kevyn has what it takes to brutalize cold Iron, Arch. I get the frustration, though, how is it that Muslims seem to get away with whatever they decide to do. They create areas of no-go zones for everyone who isn't a Muslim, including the police. They demand special menus in the schools for their children, they butcher their young daughters, and now they are getting elected to office.

What will it take to stop 'em? Nothing will stop the Muslim assent to increased political power, till Americans get their heads out of their asses and abandon the notion of politically correct nonsense and see for real what is taking place. Another problem is: A Muslim is a Muslim, he ain't a Catholic Muslim, a Luthern Muslim, a Methodist Muslim, a Democrat or Republican Muslim, he's a Muslim period, and all with the same groupthink. Until Americans think as one we're screwed.
