I agree the shooting need to stop but a police officer wouldn't last long if he let the suspect shoot first.

It said 18 people have been shot by Phoenix cops since new years. If they were illegals the police would have just dropped charges and let them walk free. A friend of mine who I never knew to own or carry a weapon according to police pulled up to a stop sign. Across the intersection a cop car also pulled up to the stop sign. They said he jumped out of his car and started shooting.They killed him.To this day I don't believe it. One high ranking Phoenix Cops son was caught fondling a young girl.He also liked rubbing peanut butter on his penis and having his family dog lick it off. He was charged with a sex crime for his actions with the young girl but it's been over 2 years and he has still not been to court. Last time I was at the jail an old lady was being threatened by a cop using a can of mace. The old woman was crying and they had already had put netting over her head. I asked the bully cop don't you take an oath to honor the Constitution and peoples rights. He told me they don't do that any more. It seems every time they have to single out one guy in a group to give hell to. The last time I told then 99% of them were punks and I didn't see the other 1% any where around. It wasn't always like that and has to do with how they are now hired. What they look for is someone stupid that will obey orders and to hell with the Constitution.

I remember we were at a Phoenix park with our amps and guitars playing. We had no clue of a permit needed to play Cops came Somebody said grab the weed which was setting half under my guitar case. I didn't grab it because they had already seen it. They took the weed, one of the cops jammed with us for a half hour and gave me back a chamber pipe stuffed with good weed. That don't happen any more. One Phoenix cop threatened my wife who is pure as the driven snow he would break into our home and hold a gun to her head. The same cop showed up when an uninsured moron pulled out in front of me. . I knocked him to next week and rolled my truck.The cop that for some reason hated me, a real nice guy shows up. The other guys fault but the beer cans on his floor board weren't found but my truck was searched I was given 4 tickets for chicken shit bull plus to tow my truck a mile and a half was almost $400 In Arizona the party at fault pays the fees for the tow truck to show up but not that day. The cop would make out his reports parked in front of my house. These cops now days you think they are playing you cause no one is that stupid until you realize Wow they are that stupid. A couple months latter the rookie cop that was his partner was just as bad as he was. I have no respect for Phoenix Cops but make up for it by the respect I have for Glendale Police.

I think you've nailed it, Steve. However, most of the police shootings are in larger cities. The rural community I live in, at this point, isn't suffering police shootings or much crime at all, and most of us are friends with those who represent our community law enforcement. Most of the arrests featured in the local papers are for low-level drug crimes committed by young folks. Some domestic issues and an occasional assault.

That said, a larger city just a thirty-minute ride away, at one time considered safe, has in a relatively short period developed the reputation of a place, not-to-go-to. The common denominator for most of the crime? Drugs, of course.

So what does a free society do to combat the one issue that seems to be behind all the trouble? Still, looking back over the years, one sees that drug problems are nothing new. If I have my history correct, Britain was trading China opium for tea. China, having had enough of the troubles caused by opium executed the dopers and stopped trading with Britain, which then led to war.

Perhaps the above example, although an extream one, and what we see taking place, presently, regarding trade, could be an omen of thing to come. Just sayin'..

It also depends on how you react to the officer that stops you. You did the right thing by admitted your mistake and he cut you some slack.

Had you acted like a smart ass he would have threw the book at you.

But for the rule of law enforced by the cops we would surely become the animals now tempered by at least something that keeps us a little more civil... Terrible to say but a fact..

People used to obey the cops "way back then" now the blacks are protesting stopped for driving while black questioned while driving while black all of the BS that the black population wants us to believe they are not the problem but the cops are. If the cop tells you to stop stop. If the cop tells you to lie down with your hands behind your back do it. If you charge at the cop you may well be shot for being stupid not black. Also way back then blacks were married and they had a father and mother in the home now they only have a mother if they are lucky and the way some of those women act I can see where a lot of the problems arise. There homes oare out of control and no male figure to rein them in doesn't help any.
