Meth shrinks your capillaries and methheads tend not to drink enough fluids...but they're busy with their hands all the time; things like going over the engine of their car at 2 AM with a toothbrush and Dawn dish soap or painting the windows black so no one can peek in or tearing the flooring out of the bathroom because the faucet was dripping and one thing led to another . Their skin gets thick at the extremities and where the joints bend. Thick and dry to the point they split and are damn painful. Quit doing meth and start drinking water and those thick places peel off after a few weeks leaving baby soft skin underneath. That can happen to anyone but not like it happens to methheads.

These one's are nothing. I've seen and had much worse.

Addiction is a really horrible place to end up in ones life and its sad some cannt find a way to get clean and live a good life very sad. The ones who have found their way back I know had a hard fight to get out and even harder to stay out of this life style.

That's good to know. Next time we have to hire someone to do repair work, I will ask to look at their hands, don't want someone impaired by drugs working on our house. One of the Corsos we had earlier, named Fehrman could sniff someone and know if they had been using drugs, he would growl and back up, even if it had been days since their last drug use.

NPP, when I was working, my hands looked many time worse than that. I was in construction and for years swung a 28 oz. framing hammer, touted cinder block and lumber. About once a month I used a razor blade to cut the callus' off of my palms. My arms were also three times their size now which could help to be a telltale sign of a hard working person or a meth head. Mike

It's possible to get thick skin like that without doing speed but there are other signs...a tensing of the mouth muscles, gritting of the teeth, not finishing what one starts.

I stayed awake for 6 days straight and slept 8 hours on the 7th. I did that for almost two years. The longest I stayed awake was 10 days.

People who do that have REMs even when awake. That's why so many methheads see things. Tree people and what have you. They start hearing things too. Some people think that stuff is real, freak out and never recover. I saw and heard all that stuff and it never bothered me because I knew what it was.

Like I said...those were mild hands...it's actually hard to find a good picture of what speed does to a person's hands because science tends to focus on their faces.

Mine were sooo much worse. I would literally have to shave my skin off with a razor because I couldn't bend my fingers and I'd soak my hands in lotion and put gloves on overnight to soften my skin. It was a real bitch.

There was very little I was interested in eating. I would mechanic for hours in the sun without drinking. I got down to 225 lbs.

I look like an Auschwitz survivor at 225 lbs.

My last prison term ended in 2003 but I haven't done speed since June of 2000. I grew up with crosstop whites.

Alcohol is the most addictive and deadly drug known to man. It's the only one that will KILL you when you're detoxing from it.

I'm not religious at all. I just understand what happened in Eden. To me, and I'm a real sinner, it's as easy as 1 + 1 = 2.

God is Life and we were created with the ability to choose His perfect will or our own.

I understand the Fall.

As soon as Adam and Eve chose other than God's perfect will they chose Death. They jumped from the tower of God's Life and the rest of us have been born in freefall. That's kind of why the Bible says we're born sinful. There's more to it than that, of course. The Hebrew word for "sin" has its root in an archery term that means "miss the mark (bullseye)". Anything outside the bullseye is sin. Heavy, huh? (You learn things like this when you're locked up )

I also understand Redemption.

Jesus...the "Firstborn of many brethren"...did what none of us could do and is now waiting to catch those of us...born in freefall...who think He can and come to admit we need it. Very easy. The book of Ruth explains this clearly in at least three different contexts
