Yeah...the Republicans idea of real-life job education is picking cotton for the "masssaaaahs" for free. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and James Madison would all agree with this sophisticated labor philosophy.

As things are now taxpayers are paying a huge subsidy to low wage employers because they get away with only paying a portion of a living wage and we end up paying the difference to support the hard working people they exploit. This also allows them to unfairly compete with honest company's that pay a living wage. President Obamas proposal dosn't do enough, it only brings the minimum wage in real dollars to where it was under Ronald Regan. It is a good start but we really need an inflation indexed living wage law.

Typical libtard wrong thinking. We don't need a living wage. Period.

This is a good write up of the evolution of George Washington's thoughts and actions re. slavery. He was actually quite benevolent with his slaves, who lived a better life than many free men of the period.

You America hating morons like to point to the fact that slavery was a part of our early years. And you point to the founders who owned slaves to support your argument America is an evil country. The fact is, most were conflicted between theor belief slavery was wrong, and the fact that abolition would have giarranteed the southern states would not have jioned the Union. You actually are so poorly educated that you selected three of the loudest opponents of slavery for your example. You America haters do not care about the truth, because it flies in the face of America being an evil nation built on evil principles. So, you go ahead and keep hating America and spewing your moronic stupidity, and we who have the truth will continue to educate the uninformed. You amd your ilk are beyond hope. In your heart you know the truth in my words, but your hatred of America will not allow you to open your mind to the truth.

America is not an evil country. It has changed its founding focus from exclusivity (only white male property owners could vote) to one of inclusivity. It took a civil war, constitutional amendments, a civil rights movement, and supreme court rulings.......but we made it. We are now a very multi-cultural nation that is not totally dominated by just one demographic group. Many of us our actually quite proud of President Obama, in spite of the wounded howls of disappointment from the far right.

With the earlier post, you showed your true feelings about America. You degraded the people who founded this country with your venomous spew. Now you come back with say and how much you love your country you are worse than a damn fish with your flip-flops. You either love this country for what it is a CAPITALIST country. Where people are free to TRY to better their lives. It is true that George Washington and others own slaves back then, everyone who was anyone owned slaves. Whether right or wrong, it doesn't matter, it was the way of society that was acceptable to the public at large.

This country was founded on FREEDOMS to pursue a better life for themselves and their families. Obama's agenda is the polar opposite of those freedoms. He and you and all progressives want the government to own you and tell you everything to do and provide for you and you are willing to give up all of your freedoms so you won't have to do a damn thing to better yourself.
