That is their goal.

In Oregon Hispanic Immigrants do the farm labor for peice work and plant trees and burn slash. It is rare that regular Americans take these jobs. Teenagers once did most of the farm work and Hippies were once the tree planters. The work is very hard physically and the pay is not that great. so perhaps these Immigrants do a neccesary job we no longer will do. I'm not sold on amnesty but permits to work should be readily availiable to Imigrants who want to take our crummy jobs we no longer want to do.

where i live is a strong republican area and i haven't heard one republican that will stay in the party if they vote this amnesty in.we are working class people and we need our jobs and amnesty will kill millions of jobs for americans and cut wages for the rest.

I think vern answered your question well, but I think there must be some other solution that nobody seems to have found yet. I don't think we have the infrastructure to identify 11 million people, round them up, determine whether they are legal or not, and deport them. Something akin to a legal alien status for a number of years before allowing them to pursue citizenship seems reasonable to me. I don't really think there would be many jobs lost to them. The reason they are here to begin with is their willingness to do physical labor jobs that Americans don't want. Denial of unemployment or welfare benefits for some lengthy period of time (10 years?) might help weed out those who are here for hand-outs.

If there is such a thing as the definition of "American Citizen" we have the technology to identify the illegals. If they cannot provide proof of citizenship, they are illegal. No jobs, no benefits, no nothing for illegals. We don't have to round them up and deport them. They can stay and have no status, no freedom, no rights. Sounds like a great life.

Denial of unemployment or welfare benefits...definitely enough to discourage those who are just hoping to be able to spend their lives in leisurely activity while the rest of us double time in our stepping to keep our noses above water.
Sounds like a plan to me.

this is the very reason the dems pushed for voter motor it was to get illegals regestered and they stole the last election with it.
something has to be done to protect our voting system we are being destroyed at the poles.

You make a valid point. I know some farmers in my area who would rather employ Hispanic workers because the farmers say they have a better work ethic. These farmers, by the way, pay decent wages for this area -- between $9 and $10/hour.

We would rather leave 92 million people sitting around, not working than put them to work doing these jobs. We would rather have 92 million Americans not working and bring in another 12 million non-Americans to work instead. That sounds like a reasonable plan.

However, it was brought to my attention, very strange, but apparently customary, if one individual brings someone else onboard, that new hire is expected to give a percentage of "his or her" pay to the one that brought them onboard. One fellow insisted on an ongoing percentage forever, and when the farmer caught wind of it, had a "chat" with the fellow.

Well, I live in a similar area and I do get where you're coming from. "Greed" by employers, regardless of where they are in the food chain, is in my mind the culprit here. Bigger bang for less bucks and hey, if the American public becomes collateral damage, they just don't care. If amnesty comes, would you become an Independent?

im not sure you can call i greed as much as doing whats best for the company .stock holders are looking for a return on investmen
t but it will just kill the working stiffs in this country.

I am American and I would rather be working for $3.00 per hour than not working for $0.00 per hour. Isn't that just common sense?

Well, you have a kinder assessment of these folks than I do. I used to have AOL, before they started outsourcing, and one night when I called, I was greeted with "good evening, I am Emily or Sarah" and then went to call a few weeks later Citibank where I used to live up north in MD and got someone who wanted to know if I lived near Atlanta. My feeling is that the American public ought not to be collateral damage in the quest for profits.
