Liberals believe there are no bad people in the World. Those who do evil are scared or have been preyed upon by the Patriarchist United States or their Imperialist White European ancestors. Anyone who bothered to study a microscopic sliver of history would know that evil is always around. When the Nazis invaded Poland, France, and the Soviet Union would talking to them have saved a life ? How about when Mussolini invaded Ethiopia used poison gas, while the worthless West debated and did nothing. I wonder if talking to Benito would have worked ? How about when Ghengis Khan was burning cities and murdering their citizens ? Do we think they should have just told him they meant him no harm ?

Or order a poorly planned rescue mission into Pyongyang.
Carter has the distinction of being the last Democrat I ever voted for except for one state representative who was more conservative than his Republican opponent.
Oh yeah, and one County Commissioner in 1992.

“What they want is a firm treaty guaranteeing North Korea that the US will not attack them or hurt them in any way, unless they attack one of their neighbors.” Carter said,

“But the United States has refused to do that.”
Carter said he would send his top person to Pyongyang immediately, adding:

“If I didn’t go myself.” The former president visited North Korea three times between 1994 and 2011.

"Until we're willing to talk to them and treat them with respect as human beings, which they are, then I don't think we'll make any progress," he said.

OK, we know that there is virtually no military solution to this problem without a dramatic cost of human life in terms of South Korean and US military personnel. We also know that the only reason the US has not treated North Korea like Iraq, is because of their strong military and nuclear capability. So, my question to all OPP'ers is why not do as Carter proposes and negotiate a treaty with them that we will leave them alone so long as they don't attack us or their neighbors? Is that so hard to comprehend?

We are trying to develop missiles to shoot down their missiles. Why don't we deploy them to South Korea ? We could try to shoot down their missiles every time he launches one. Target practice.

A joint treaty with China, N. Korea and the US, ending the Korean war, recognizing N. Korea as a legitimate sovereign State, and making China responsible for supervising N. Korean nukes, should do the trick. If the N. Korean people are willing to endure the bullshit, who are we to disagree? We Americans, after all, have plenty of our own bullshit to deal with, yes?

sounds reasonable to me Doc

What tripe. Administrations of both parties have been appeasing which ever lunatic has been running (ruining) North Korea for decades. The Democrat administrations of course have actually enabled their nuclear and weapons advances, using Jimmy Carters plans and ideas, what Cater is offering is more of the same stupidity

Actually the left does believe there is evil in the world. Their true enemies and those they hate the most are conservatives. Their goals and ideals align more closely with these totalitarian regimes, conservatism is a point of dissent and opposition that cannot be tolerated

I'm sure if we just translate kumbaya into Korean that Carter can go there, sing it to them, and then we can all hug our teddy bears. Now THAT'S Democrat diplomacy.
