There is only one reason why people ever "assimilated" in America, necessity. Before our government and society went all stupid, everyone had to find a way to make their own way. That required interaction with everyone else, unless one chose to be isolated and could live off the land. There were ethnic "communities", but they had to have some kind of income and that meant commerce. And that meant getting along with others. To have any chance at this, they had to learn the dominant language, English. They had to blend in or be avoided for being "odd". It was freedom that forced assimilation.
The things that have made it possible for these people to not assimilate is our stupid politicians pandering for votes, "giving" people a way to survive without having to get along with the rest of society, promoting their "right" to remain insular and separate.
Freedom works both ways. You can do what you want to do, but you must also do what you have to do. Take away the necessity to interact and take away the necessity of assimilation. If we are to save our Constitutional Republic, we have to roll back all of the social programs and social engineering bullcrap. You can't create a bunch of laws to fashion "an orderly society" and call yourself a "free country". We've become an untidy version of Europe, with a ruling class that is incompetent and a common class that thinks they have a right to do anything they want. The loss of self-respect and mutual respect comes from our laws having no respect for individuals, either to make personal choices or be independent. We won't ever become great until we stop ALL of that dumbshit. That means no more welfare and no more drug laws or any other laws that say "we can't allow people to just do whatever they want to do". That's what freedom is, people doing whatever they want to do, except infringing on the rights of others to "do what they want to do".

Hi Donna45 and welcome. I cant quite remember who it was but just recently I read an article about this famous black singer (she is currently pretty famous)who converted to Islam after marrying some Muslim dude and she stated that she was a shade shy of about to commit suicide as a result. She stated that she thought it would be cool to be a part of something larger than herself and dove right in. Boy was she taken for a ride. She couldnt do this or that without the husbands permision or his relatives permission. As soon as she could she litteraly ran fofr her life back to family and told them what was going on. Stupid peoplew whjo advocate for this lifstyle or march in solidarity with this Sarsours Bitch really need to re-think their redicules positions but then again I said they needed the think.
