Floyd, you are a broken record, making a dreadful noise, not anything pleasant to listen to.

Well we seem to be two of a kind on this broken record idea.

What I don't get is why while I feel that I don't want a gun to protect me from you & those that think like you.

You seem to think that you need weapons to protect your self from those that don't think like you do.

Is this an issue of trust or lack of trust in our fellow man.

Bottom line why are you filled with such fear.

Isn't the bottom line that we need to trust each other to do the right things. Isn't the right thing to look for the right things to do.

Note that I did not use question marks. I just pose the ideas as they are how I feel. Just think a little on what I am trying to say.

Finally an opinion. You are for people not having guns. Finally something concrete I can disagree with.

Paddle in a boat together. Give me a break. You guys only talk that crap if we are all willing to paddle the direction you want to go. We on the right are always whackos, extremists and heartless if we disagree with your liberal views. Even though only 26% of the country is liberal, but some how you are right and the rest are wrong. I think you all should get in the boat and paddle away. You won't get far because elitist know it alls don't really work well when it comes to maual labor

Well, JFlorio, I am (shocking as you may find it) a registered REPUBLICAN. I caught your remark about "the boat" and have to think it was directed towards me, but that is okay, this is a democracy. However, there is always the possibility that you will "miss the boat" and be left alone to wonder where the rest of us have gone. Feel free to sit on the dock, waving goodbye, as I have already said it's still a democracy.

What can you possibly agree with? Floyd never takes a position. Do you agree with not offering any ideas or solutions?

Ideas and/or 'solutions' are generally met with rebuke or dismissal on the OPP. Posters, for the most part, are established in their postitions. Trying to force one's opinion on others is almost always met with resistance.

Comments/posts that provoke thought are preferable.

That is the best, most enlightening, explanation of Floyd Brown. Everyone should understand that truth about him when reading his posts. Thanks.

We are all in this boat so to speak.

We all have a paddle but each of us is paddling in a different direction.

While most of us waste our time paddling & going no where there are those that benefit from our paddling.

Would it not be a good idea to slow down a bit & really listen to what each of has to say & perhaps paddle towards a common goal on in a common way.

Just because Albert Einstein said it doesn't make it true. When did Albert Einstein become God? Training the mind to think, that sounds like indoctrination to me.

How does a post that says "either way is fine with me" provoke thought? That is what Floyd said. Go back and look.

How can you say that? You never say anything, yourself. You only complain when others say things.

I have stated on another post that it don't matter to me if you have guns or not.

While I think that any one who truly feels they need a gun to protect them self from those that don't think like they do is going down a path that leads to unhappy ends.

So now you want to deny that you have an opinion. So I was right that you do not provoke thought, you encourage people not to have or express opinions.

I certainly agree with you about the mental health side of the equation. Have to candidly say I have a "bit" of mixed emotions about the other. I will have to agree with you that forever, it seems, we will be "the Ugly American" with the best of intentions and the worst results. Oil, we have it. However, from my viewpoint, I think it not wise to play at "isolationism" if that's what you were getting at because if I look back at history correctly, that rather got us in huge trouble way back, and continued to do so. I don't know what to say to the "Syria" issues of the world. If we hang back, we are considered unsympathetic and it is "our" fault; if we, however, jump right in, with no real thought but gut reaction concerning what seems to be a total injustice to the Syrian people, then we are Ugly Americans. Your thoughts?
I certainly agree with you about the mental health... (show quote)

Dear Searching

I am not advocating isolationism. If we would act in concert with other nations to cure problems I have no problem. If we do it for national aim or protection of our interests alone I have second thoughts.

We have to lose the "ugly American" image by helping people but not interfering.

As a former teacher, I agree with big Albert! We in the ed. business call it critical thinking. Facts can come from a million different sources. Knowing what to do with facts only come from the mind!

Gotcha!! :) Thanks for the clarification. "Special interests" don't work for me either.
