In an interview with Business Insider’s Oliver Darcy, a conservative radio host lamented the fact that conservative media has conditioned its followers to distrust the mainstream media so much that they have become fact-free “monsters.”

In a tweet promoting an upcoming piece on rightwing media, Darcy posted an excerpt from an interview with conservative radio host Charlie Sykes who claims candidates like Donald Trump can say anything on the stump without fear of being fact-checked by the likes of Fox News or conservative websites.

“We’ve basically eliminated any of the referees, the gatekeepers. There’s nobody. Let’s say that Donald Trump basically makes whatever you want to say, whatever claim he wants to make. And everybody knows it’s a falsehood,” he explained. “The big question of my audience, it is impossible for me to say that. ‘By the way, you know it’s false.’ And they’ll say, ‘Why? I saw it on Allen B. West.’ Or they’ll say, ‘I saw it on a Facebook page.’ And I’ll say, ‘The New York Times did a fact check.’ And they’ll say, Oh, that’s The New York Times. That’s bullshit.'”

According to Sykes, any attempts to continue fighting back against misinformation is dismissed with complaints that he has “sold out,” adding, “Then they’ll ask what’s wrong with me for not repeating these stories that I know not to be true.”

Sykes warned “There’s got to be a reckoning on all this.”

They've dug their own hole. Here, some is just trying to be honest and tell them what they (RW media) has done that would cause the rise of someone like Trump. When no one is left to vet the truth a candidate can say what they want and the more he says what you like the greater he is viewed as truthful--even though, not a truthful word came out his mouth. And of course if anyone does fact check--well you can't trust what is said because it comes from so and so sources.

The only good thing is that they are dying off faster than we are dying off and of course because of the rhetoric they've adopted towards minorities they assured themselves that they will never be the majority again.

Of course, that will be because we cheat, not because the platform they've adopted sucks, cuz they simply can't deal with the truth...

A harmless fringe? It's sad you cannot see this so called recovery is the worst since 1939. It's sad you can't see the foreign policy failures around the globe. It's sad you can't see the increased racial tension on this country. It's sad you can't see the violence against police. The left has been anything but harmless to our country. If speaking out against that is hate speech, we need more if it. You call it hate speech, then you call it a harmless fringe. Sounds a bit inconsistent, don't you think. The overriding question is has this administration made the country better foo than it was when they took over. If you say yes I think you are kidding yourself for the reasons I mentioned above. The stock market is up but our neighborhoods are falling apart. Thanks to liberal policy, 8 years, and a public which refuses to see the truth without labeling it as hate speech.
