COOL BREEZE
I was born, raised, and live in the south, West Tennessee my whole life. I have a question, what is the definition of a "POOR, UNEDUCATED, WHITE PERSON" ??
The writers info described JOHNNY HILL as a writer of books, articles, etc., that supports is platform of PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL IDEOLOGY. That was the only part of the article that was the truth and fact, the rest was hot air from an uneducated liberal idiot on the people who live/from the south. Yes we were forced into busing and the push back had nothing to do with racism, it was because it would/did increased the cost to fund public education that should be spent on improving the public education system, before busing kids attended local neighborhood schools, were kids walked to school, parents dropped off kids, and parents were heavily involved in the schools activities, PTA, etc. I experienced it first hand, from K to 3rd grade I attended my local public school, majority white, few blacks, in 1973 or 74 busing started, I was starting the 4th and was bused over 20 miles away to a school in a all black school/neighborhood who actually made it well known in media reports, they didn't want us white/honkies at their schools and had made comments like they would flip over buses, etc., my first day arriving on the bus the school yard was filled, I mean filled with blacks from the neighborhood the only clear path was the walkway from the road to the schools front doors, it was that way for the first week tapering down each day, so it wasn't the black kids that got bused to a majority white neighborhood who pulled up their first of a school yard filled white racist wearing white hoods, but once inside and that whole year I never saw one fight, we all played together, ate together, etc. however through the twice a year standard testing required to take my mid year scores had dropped and year end scores even more from my previous years scores, which had shown improved scores every time. That was a huge concern of my parents so during that summer break that had me tested more to get a better understanding. From those results, not because I was white and to good to attend public schools now, they put me in a private Parochial School (Catholic School) starting my 5th grade year. I'm not catholic so my tuition wasn't based on family income, it was max cost to attend, and the school doesn't provide you text books for each subject, they give you a list a required books for the year and you go purchase them, we had a uniform code grade school was blue dress pants and light blue collared button up shirt, show up out of code sent home period. Boy was the way and the material level I was now being taught now were like night and day, it took over three years to feel I had caught up to the average. In the catholic school system I was in starting in 9th grade you had two choices out of three high schools 9th thru 12th, all boys, all girls, or a co-ed, I went to the co-ed the grade school was all white, however high school was like 65% white and 35% black and in my 4 years I never saw one fight, heard one racial comment, etc. and we all had a lot in common our parents had raised us to respect others, our parents were concerned with our educations, etc. and a large group of us are still in contact, we had our 30 year reunion in 2014 and it's amazing how close and excited a group of people are for the majority to spend three days together again. I know how blessed I was with parents and how fortunate I was that my parents could afford to move me into a private school. The reason I said all that because that's just a couple of examples how the south really is, those who respect themselves and respects others no matter the color of skin have no racism problems and by far are the friendliest people in this country. The northern implants, Hill pulled that straight out of his liberal ass, and the ones that have moved here sure has no influence on southerners, and for the most they're not friendly, don't understand southern ways, etc., like driving on rural roads/hwy and passing drivers, mostly men throw a index finger or hand up at each other, or why going in and out of stores/passing strangers on walkways give each other a headnog or a hey, oh yeah we hold doors open for others. True story I was in Michigan for the NASCAR race one night I was leaving a steak house, I saw a woman in her twenty's walking towards the so I waited and open the door for her gave the headnog with a hey and she said where the hell are you from, as she kept walking it was funny as hell to me and I look nothing like or talk like the stereotype people vision of white southerners, bubba, redneck, country hick, however those folks do exist and the majority are the nicest people you can meet, would give their shirt off their back to help people.
Tasine's reply to J Anthony was spot on too.
COOL BREEZE don't forget to help me that definition
