So do you think we really have a shorter ice fishing season than we use to?

That has been the most troublesome part of our now brief winters...to get a full season have had to wade through ponds of water on my personal ice...of course last years winter was 6mo long and I am still recovering..

Couple of the kids were planning on heading out on the ice this weekend I'm sorry but as hardcore of walleye guy as I am I'm still going to wait a couple of weeks.

Over the years I've worked very hard on watersheds and quality of life urban development. I can see and measure these things and know if our efforts have had a positive impact. Half of my property is easement to the national scenic river way, I care deeply about our environment. There just seems to be a fair amount of conflicting evidence to global warming as predicted in climate computer models.

There are technologies that we are currently implementing that significantly reduce green house gases that do not do wholesale damage to our economy.

Like diesel exhaust fluid, just one of the products the company I work for manufactures.

In the past 18 yrs or so there is only a 1/100 degree rise in temperature. There is as much evidence to counter the global warming as there is to support it.

that sounds like a plan...Although as cold as it feels outside now, an overnighter may be all thats needed...

Sounds like you have a very interesting job...The evidence for global warming is conflicting, and not helped when some lies get published to try and change a point of view, which happened a few years ago..That exhaust fluid sounds like a good product.. No reason "green" products have to be disruptive or extremely costly..As someone pointed out, when money gets involved then the correct conclusion is even harder to find..But I feel we need to constantly watch over our environment..

He doesn't believe it either, he just intends to make millions from carbon credits, through the Shore Bank, run by his brotherinlaw! He bailed it out and didn''t allow it to get new management! Why do you think he is so adament about the fradulent carbon emissions? He is just a chicago thug!

You are wrong about the hottest years, they were in the 1940s as were the coldest years, in other words the seasons were more pronounced! The average is and has been for the last 15 years going down. The Russians predicted a nuclear winter or another Ice Age as long as ten years ago! And they are preparing! But the old line communists are perfectly willing to see us allow the leftist eco-wackos destroy our economy and thereby our whole country!

Climate change is real, but has been happening far longer than the existence of man, and is not man-made. The effect of human activities on climate is so minuscule as to be nothing. The earth experiences an ice age, or glacial period every 100,00 years, and between ice ages we have warming periods. We are in the current warming period, which allows THE ABUNDANCE OF LIFE we are now experiencing. The next ice age is due within the next 5000-10,000 years, with a margin of error of 1000-2000 years. It will come whether you like it or not, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR NOT. It occurs because of the earth's rotation around the sun, which like most orbits are elliptical (think Halley's Comet), and is somewhat wobbly.

For more info see the work of Mr. McClenny, a California licensed professional geologist and registered environmental assessor, "The Sky is Falling, or On Revising The Nine Times Rule":

/McClenneyPart II.pdf, Part III.pdf, Part IV.pdf, and Part V.pdf; or just put The Sky is Falling or The Nine Times Rule in your search engine.

His work is interesting, and convincing. HE started out believing that we affect the climate (he IS from California!), until he started to look into some things that just didn't add up...

We in Minnesota have a lot of hottest and coldest from the 30s and the all time hottest summer was 34 or 36...the temps I was referring to are the most days over 90 degrees. Something like that..I have read about the Russian prediction. Did not change my opinion..So many points that all have merit..The post right after yours is correct also..The ice cycle is due is that relatively short time of 5 to 10 thousand yrs..All these points make any conclusion on long term weather hard to make..Read one article which stated the ice age would be triggered by the rising world temperature..Could not follow that logic..I think the computer models are getting better and we should keep watching those results..For now I am going to do the minor things in my power and feel that if everyone does a little bit it will hurt nothing and who knows, may help..

I lived on the rum river for 20 years and loved smally fishing out of my kayak. Talk about communing with God on a quite Tuesday afternoon. I now live on the upper st croix, great sauger and walleye fishing but I've always been leary of river ice.

Tried red and Mille lacs both a couple of times last winter and was very disappointed they both have very low fish populations right now.

We are very blessed with water but we have some serious issues and now hear that the Great Lakes basin has Asian carp Uuugh. Its only a matter of time before they are everywhere.

Why why why do people bring these things in to the us. Jesus I just got the 10,000 Japanese beetles swept up in my basement.
