The NBC News investigation found that this was a case of more smoke than fire and quite a bit of wishful thinking on the part of conservatives. Here’s what they found instead (emphasis added):

But contrary to some published reports, three officials said there was no email on Clinton’s server that directly revealed the identity of an undercover intelligence operative. Rather, they said, State Department and other officials attempted to make veiled references to intelligence officers in the emails — references that were deemed classified when the messages were being reviewed years later for public release.

Catch the differences?

There were absolutely no direct references to the identities of undercover operatives. No “names” or distinguishing characteristics. No way to know who the emails were referring to. If a terrorist were to find these emails, they would be spectacularly unhelpful.

Making matters even stronger for Clinton’s case, the emails were only deemed classified years later. At the time she had them, they were considered mundane.

This falls in line with what Clinton has been saying all along. She admits that having the server at her house was a mistake, but it was never a criminal act, and it ultimately put zero CIA agents at risk of any danger. The Republican charges to the contrary are evaporating under scrutiny.

If this is all they have against her should she receive the Democratic nomination, they are – without doubt – utterly

Do you know the difference between a private server and a terminal or computer?

moldy-the classification of any document is based on its content. Therefore if material that warrants classification is treated as unclassified it means that someone was derelict in his/her duties. Hillary Clinton , like all other State Dept employees, signed a document stating that she would protect classified information whether it is marked as such or unmarked. Why do you think "unmarked" is included in that document ? It is because people make mistakes and if someone overlooks protecting a document that warrants classification, but does not bear classification markings, that does not mean that the document was classified after the fact as Hillary claims. It means that the recipient should have been able to determine that the document initially needed to be classified due to its contents and failed to do so. The sensitivity of the contents determine the level of classification and we know that the SAP program is Top Secret Plus so Hillary does not have any excuse as concerns these documents. You do not take sensitive material sent to you encrypted on a protected network and re-transmit same , without encryption, on an unprotected network. Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows better. Hillary had a private server for her convenience and it allowed her to delete whatever she thought others in the bureaucracy should not see such as foundation information. This stinks and surpasses the faux pas made by Gen. Petraeus. Good Luck America !!!

moldy-if Gen. Powell, read information that did not bear classification markings and was later deemed to have been classified it means that he failed to recognize classification based on contents. If the original was amended and material added that would warrant classification after the
Gen. read it, that is a different . If the contents did not change it was classified from inception whether marked or unmarked. Nobody is invincible not even Generals or the Sec. of State . Good Luck America !!!

Things change over time. Much like all the debunked crap that bush cheney used to justify invading iraq. It suddenly became evidence after the neocons decided to go to war.

Your uniform photo indicates you were in the Army. When I was in and still a lowly E-2 we were instructed how to recognize information in any form that was not to be mentioned outside the Army. Some hings I learned, if repeated or transmitted in any way outside the unit could have earned me a stay in the barbed wire hotel. If you were unlucky enough to visit a war zone, being careless with information, spoken, written, transmitted over wireless, etc. might earn you a "fragging". You rationalize a SECRETARY OF STATE with LESS responsibility and culpability than an E-2 ???? That's not rational.

Then you think Saddam did not invade Kuwait, engage in a genocide against the Marsh Arabs, attempt an ecological disaster by burning the Kuwait oil fields, draining the Marsh Arab's swamp, invade Iran causing up to 500,000 total, both sides, deaths. He did not feed people thru an industrial shredder alive, did not gas the Kurds, did not have 13 metric tons of yellowcake uranium that we gave to Canada, that could have been refined into two fuel for nuclear devices, did not murder anyone who opposed him politically, etc etc etc,,,,....none of that happened?????

Pete,

From Alternet... only a sample of what you can find...

Ten Appalling Lies We Were Told About Iraq

It was a systematic campaign to frighten the hell out of us about the threat of Hussein, and almost none of it was true.

Bush senior gave saddam permission to invade kuwait. Then he attacked him once kuwait gave him what he wanted. Probably sme oil leases. There was no yellow cake in iraq. The CIA gave saddam gas to use against iran, so we are just as guilty for the kurds getting gassed. The main problem is who decided that we have to be the worlds police.
