We did that and got our butts chewed. Caught two but the damn birds got them before we could reel them in.

A couple or three were kicked out in 2010 and you can find some kicked out of the Army, Marines and Air Force, 15 that is in 2012 and 2013.

It appears we are shrinking the Navy much more than the other services since there have been 79 of them from Commander up in 2011 - 2013. From 2011 through 2013 there were 79 with 22 in 2011, 30 in 2012, and 27 in 3013. Surely with numbers like this non-coms will be running the Navy soon.

The link shows the names, ranks, commands and the year they were removed. It is very interesting that a large number of majors from the Air Force have been thrown out, also.

I'm very pro-US military, but it, like all parts of our government, can use some housecleaning from time to time. There IS such a thing as common sense, but we don't see a lot of that within our government which has gone totally off the rails and has no way in the world to get back on the rails. There are simply too many obstacles - and the biggest obstacle is pride and protection of power.

I don't trust THIS Administration to do ANYTHING properly and wisely, and given Obama's penchant for doing everything in total secret with outcomes ALWAYS negative, he invites distrust.

Military should clean their own house not a president who doesn't even like them.

The Inspector General is, a General and Generals don't tell on other Generals.

Can tell you have never been around brass. As for Generals I haven't been either but I drove Admirals while I was waiting orders to my next duty, 1 star follow orders from 2 star and so forth. Had a 3 star that treated me better as an E-4 than he did lower ranked Generals.

Have been around brass, that's how I know. Kind of like the " blue code " for cops.

Easiest duty I ever had, great guy, 32 years, came up as a White Hat (enlisted). You should have seen the face of the Chief at my next duty station, it was like who to hell do you know.

TP Ron... I read with interest the link you provided.... Thank you  ... however I find a few problems.... First off 20k on the stingers is unrealistic.... Second is in the conclusion...Not wanting the Middle East to become America’s next Vietnam, the military wants Obama gone. And now the military has a strong partner, the Carlyle Group whose connections ripple through the American power structure. These connections and the other reasons why the Obama administration may not be standing by the end of year will be presented in part two. .... The Carlyle group influenced the Iraq war... has profited in the billions from it... They thrive on war.... That is why Obama has many problems...They fund the far right propaganda machine ... The Carlyle Group has infected our governing process...These are the people that Eisenhower warned us about...The Industrial military complex, multinational investment bankers, crony capitalists ... Part 2 should be interesting

I know only the general situation of changing strategy to small targeted operations and training missions instead of commitment of boots on the ground. That and prioritization of spending on intel and defense of electronic infrastructure vulnerable in terrorist scenario. Also budget cutbacks.

One of my concerns is that the military is one of the few opportunities for young people without career plans in progress to go as a career or as temporary purposeful place until they "grow up" or are ready to hit civilian workplace search or training for career. Does military service still qualify for college or job training benefits as it once did? It should. In my last six years employment I saw what good a stint in the military had done for three young workers in particular. I'm afraid our new situation will close out much of that opportunity.

Regarding the "conspiracy" angle or story lines involved,so much extreme rightwing fantasy. We need to focus on realities. One focus needs to be creating gates of opportunity for youth starting out in life--otherwise too many lost generation people.

It seems to me the process of downsizing the military in numbers is being carried out rather bureaucratically and cruelly as if these retirees or "laid off" military were somehow discards or lacking in qualification or merit when actually it's just downsizing. Crappy way to treat people who deserve consideration and care. Blind bureaucracy.
