That view is wrong. The 2nd amendment guarentees me the right to defend myself with WHATEVER weapon I choose. That includes an M1A1 Abrams tank, if I wanted one, and if I could even afford one. I would NEVER have one; but the RIGHT to have one is there.

Bolt actions are fine for hunting and sniping, but a well tuned AR 15 with any arrangement of combat sight systems is one deadly mofo out to 500 yds.

BTW, "AR" is the abbreviation of the original manufacturer of the Armalite Rifles. The company started with Numero Uno. The AR7 is a nice little 22 survival rifle--everything packs in the stock and it floats. The AR10 is the bad boy that fires .308 (7.62 NATO)

SWAT magazine published the report on a protracted firing test on a BCM 5.56mm carbine--the Filthy 14 ("14" is the number of its slot on the gun rack). Fired 35,000 rounds over a period of 6 months without running a single swab through the bore. They had to replace two extractors and one spring. All the maintenance done was to lube the BCG with SLIP 2000 Extreme Weapons Lube.

Not all of us can afford to pay an ammo bearer, there, sahib. Have you SEEN these 40 and 50 round mags? Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy. A 75 round drum is a nice compromise; handier than those ridiculous magazines, not heavy as hell like the 100 rounders. Not a pain in the butt like a belt fed weapon. There is a reason that belt fed weapons are usually crew served. Besides, the 40 and 50 round mags I have seen are not the most reliable feeders in the world. Thirty is about right for a "banana"style mag. Thoughts? Objections? Refutals?

None taken. Happiness IS a belt fed weapon, if you have somebody to carry the belt. I was a gunner briefly, long enough to figure out that an M60 is a load all by itself. I don't always take the shit posted on here seriously either, but that one is no shit. All that firepower is comforting, but comfort weighs a ton.

Del, my buddy, worked a variety of MGs. His favorite was a AFV mounted Ma Deuce. A ton of gun and ammo and while the AFV did all the humping, Del, had all the fun. :mrgreen:

All this heavy fire power talk and no mention of the mini 14... short... light...comes in stainless.... fires .223 or 5.56mm nato...30 round clips...simple and reliable... only draw back is barrel rise on rapid fire but you get use to it :thumbup:

Had Ruger Mini 30 for a time. Same round as the AK47. Good gun.
