It seems that a lot of "journalists", politicians, and assorted gun grabbers think assaultrifle is one word. They don't seem to be able to say or write the word "rifle" without the word "assault"in front of it.
Should a rifle used for self defense be called a "defense rifle", or should a rifle used to guard prisoners be called a "control rifle"?
There is no such thing as a journalist in the so called main stream media (really f*****t media). The media is just another Dept., Bureau, of the Dumbocrap party.
During the Revolution, the Kentucky Long Rifle was the assault weapon of the time. It came from the civilian market. "We the People", have every right to own the "latest and greatest" arms of the day. 2A is clear on that point. Current popular emotions of scared people should not infringe on my rights.today. Tomorrow, that scared person, will be loaded on a cattle car and be off to the GENOCIDE gas chambers. NSA will see to that. History has proven that many times. google GENOCIDE and see the most recent.
Also the British Land Brown Bess, The pennsylvania rifle and the French Charleville

All of which were more common than the long rifle. Not very accurate, but much faster to reload.

Being forced to buy a permit from a government bureau to put my private, personal gun in my private, personal pocket is a severe infringement on my constitutional rights.
I think the Penn. Rifle is the correct name for the KY Long. Those had rifling for use with a round ball and were in different calibers for game hunting. They were more accurate than the Brits Brown Bess, smooth bore, used for volly instead of accuracy.

It's like having a fire at the far end of town. Then the firemen stop and
hose your house down.

Either is correct, although most were made in Pennsylvania. They ranged in caliber from around .30 to around .50, for the most part. The French Charlesville muskets were generally about .69 caliber, and the British Brown Bess were .75, or 12 gauge.
If we had used standard tactics like the Brits, we never would have won
I guess the point is. Todays AR's are the Lomg Rifles of yesterday. We must not give them up
"We the People" need to control the Gevernment
