Do we really have a two Party system.
I say that the government in Washington has been bought
by Big Money. Who control who we are able to vote for.
We thus have two Parties in name only.
With this system we the general public argue one party against the other to the delight of Big Money.
I say this is a big reason we are in this mess.
Please state you views.

We are at the same stage as that of Ancient Rome when the gluttonized Senatorial ruling families obsessed with the Egyptian grain trade and the currying of favor by their lobbyists (known to Romans as "CLIENTS") over the creation of the Port of Ostia were relieved when Julius Caesar crossed the rubicon and came trundling in with his legion(s) and POW's and took charge so the Senate could then concentrate on lining their pockets and developing Tuscan villa estates later to become dark age principalities. The only thing is we do not have a CAESAR on the horizon......anybody?

We do have 2 parties...unfortunately so far apart we have deadlock in decisions. For 2 years the stated goal of the one party was to insure the other party's President had no achievement (even if it meant no progress for the country). There was a suspicion that the President's party was playing the govt. shutdown for political advantage. Good grief.
By Big Money are you referring to Big Oil and Big Coal billionaires like the Koch brothers setting up PACs to elect candidates who deny climate change as has taken place here in Wisconsin? Denying climate change isn't a GOP plank but for Wisc. GOP Congress candidates it's a must. Sen. McCain & the former Dem Wisc. led a bipartisan effort to limit disportionate money in politics (ruled as against freedom of speech by Supreme Court). So guess who was way out-moneyed (Koch money) and unexpectedly lost in re-election contest? The money-elected candidate was Sen. Ron Johnson, WI, notorious for statements debunking climate change. Of course, the Dem party also has its big money financers also but not quite so notorious.

Big Money to me is some one that has so much money They can throw it a way buying votes.
Yes there are two party's but that is for show only.
They are there to distract us only.
I want to call attention to the fact that most of the wealth is in only a few hands. Those with the money use the money to make more money. So on & so forth.
It is time to stop blaming the Right or the Left & put the blame on those that spend the money they make off of us to
buy votes in Congress. Then we need to blame those that sell their votes also.
Perhaps we should send thanks to a Congressman the speaks out against Big Money.
When enough of us call out in unison they will hear us.
Leaders are not leaders until they have that first follower.

having " parties " is a way to keep average Americans engaged, give us a false sense of being in charge of our own Gov.

I suppose that if you want to be a party to misleading people & truly think it is the best way to run a Nation.
I guess that best thing I can say is for you to look at what you said & restate it.
Now I have said some thing close to what you have said but it was stated "Big Money wants to keep the two party system in play because it keeps people distracted from real issues."
Or some thing like that.

that is true but party top leaders collude in this.
until lobbyists are outlawed it will not change.
The "Right" & the "left" are just pawns of the few in the big picture.

I will take that as we agree some what on this point.

That is a large part of the mess that needs cleaning up.
There are really two parties.
democrats/republicans = one and the same party.
libertarians = the other party.
democrat = schoolyard bully who beats you up for your lunch money.
republican = schoolyard bully who takes your lunch money to protect you from the other schoolyard bully.
libertarian = helps by keeping the other bullies from harming you.

that will never happen. I mean, if you had a second income stream, one that was VERY lucrative, would you up and say " I can't get that money anymore. "?

the way to clean most messes is to sweep it up and put it in the garbage. When you try to throw out some ones favorite clown doll, they want to keep it. what to do if the mess is composed entirely of clown dolls?
