Yeah, it would have been different if say 90% of workers had been laid off, but 90% were forced to work during the shutdown.

You are so right but the Dems surely wanted everybody to think that it was the GOP Congress that caused that shutdown. I wonder if any of that 10% had to work next to some of the 90% in days immediately following the "shutdown". If so they may have run into some very unhappy people.

I just don't see how that is such a large raise considering that the left side of the aisle is pushing for $15 as the minimum pay. Maybe we need to look into what the average federal worker is paid now to see just how much 1% really is.

Can anyone prove that the pay of federal workers in DC is not better than other workers throughout the nation? If so, I guess that Obama didn't buy several thousand v**es with that 1% raise. Surely all those people will v**e for Democrats since they get an $8000 raise next month.

I just don't see how that is such a large raise co... (show quote)

It is not only the overall cost of the raises but Federal Workers produce nothing except mountains of paperwork to keep a massive bureaucracy operating. The money will come from higher taxes on the private sector which pays all of the Federal employee wages. At a time when millions are unemployed it is not prudent to give anyone a raise. The federal employee earning 60k a year can probably do without an extra $600.00 a year but to the unemployed that same amount can mean a rent payment or groceries for a few weeks. It is obvious that this is v**e buying in its lowest form. But since it is Obama, and he is a democrat and in the words of Hillary Clinton, "what difference does it make"? Good Luck America !!!

I want term limits for bureaucrats and federal employees. You must work year for year in the private sector as in the public sector with no more than seven consecutive years in the public sector.

I don't know for sure what Federal employees make. What ever it is it's to much. Lest we forget, we pay them. With around 2 million employees 1% adds up. What ever they make it's 3 or 4 times what enlisted military personnel make.

Federal Employee pay schedule can be found:

I v**e for a 2% DEDUCTION in salaries for all government employees and also a 2% DEDUCTION in their benefits. That would also help the federal debt.
All of them need to do something for the people in order to be considered for any raises.
The way they have been working, they all deserve a third graders wage.
