I don't know about the 10 to 20 yrs. That's a new hypothesis to me.

Your advice on judgement is on point for me.

Thank You. Too many people try to judge historical events by present day mores. It just doesn't work. Historical events and people must be judged by the standards which were prevalent at the time. Those standards, as I said, were harsher than today's.
Regarding my estimate of the death of s***ery, I base it on events, what I believe was public opinion at the time, and economic circumstances. Had these changed drastically, all bets are off.

Lincoln stated from the beginning that he wanted to maintain the union, and if he could do that and do away with s***ery he would gladly do it. You do know about the oath of office that both Lincoln and Obama took, I take it. When he swore to keep the nation together he took that as serious swearing.

Now, it appears that you would have been against the new Constitution that was written to replace the Articles of Confederation. You like things as they were under the Articles, it appears.
Lincoln stated from the beginning that he wanted t... (show quote)

Are you saying that the states weren't able to rebel and separate from the union under the new Constitution? Where is that in the Constitution. I see in the Declaration of Independence that any people has a God given right to throw off a tyrannical and oppressive government. Was that nullified by the new Constitution?

Go ahead and mistrust Dick Morris. I know that what he said in this one is so full of t***h than only certain people could fail to know it. I have studied the period for years, except for the past 20 or so when progressives began rewriting and even leaving out. This time your attack on Morris is nothing but Alinsky like in that you attacked the messenger, Morris, without mentioning the message, which was so right on that I couldn't keep the story from people like you.

I will never let the world forget that Dick Morris was a t*****r to the Constitution, Conservatives, and freedom, just like we should never forget the holocaust, Pearl Harbor, 9-11-2001, etc. We remember these things so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past. We have moved on from the kamikaze attacks, but we don't trust those kamikaze pilots to teach us.

You are trying to attaché the Declaration to the Constitution and it was written in 1776 while the Constitution was written in 1787. The one establishes the government and the other is nothing more than a justification for r*******n.

Not trying, I am doing it.

The two together are inextricably linked and form the founding documents for this nation. One does not exist without the other.

And this nation does not exist without both.
