I am probably the one wrong here... All I remember the movie was Lana Turner and who ever else played in it with her. I dont remember how old I was. We we too poor for me to have gone to the movie back then and no one had television. So I must have been in my later early 20's .. not sure... and I dont remember if the movie was black and white or like you said in color. I never went to movies much in my life anyway... Don't think I ever went to one till I was in my 20's...

When tv first came here in this city.. it was all black and white that might have been cause I thought the movie was in black and white... I never saw a tv but one time in my life and that was when I lived at this lady's house and they bought one.. but even then.. I never watched it.. I just knew she had bought one. Didn't even know what a tv was till she showed it to me... Man alive.. am telling my age now..
But that was the saddest movie I had ever watched... I felt so sorry for that black girl but mostly felt sorry for her Mother cause she couldn't help how she was..
I am probably the one wrong here... All I remember... (show quote)

Well, Mrs. Kelly, I can understand where you're coming from, with that. My Family did not get its' first TV until the mid-to-late 50's, and it was black & white.

I'm not sure if the 1959 version was originally black & white, or in color...it may have been. All I know is that my memory is of color, but that could have been due to "colorization" of it, years later. The 1934 version starred Claudette Colbert, and was, of course, in black & white.

In those days, my nomination for saddest movie, would have been "Old Yeller"! I cried my heart out at the end of that one. Of course, I was just a young boy of 8 when that movie came out, in 1957.

I hugged my dog, endlessly, after watching that movie.

This is directly related to my life, it is going to make headlines.
but before I say anything more I must quickly come clean on a couple things:
I am 18
I live in Washington state
I am in HS.
_________
there, I know it seems weird that someone my age studies philosophy and science in the way I do.
this past week, a HS named east-side catholic was forced to fire its principal by the catholic church because the principal got married to a man. there was a sit in to bring the principle back, this was lead by students.
I go to the HS 6 blocks away.
there is a facebook page called "eastlake confessions". this site was crated so that students at my school had the ability to anonymously confess anything they wanted. this page is run by the students.
before I go any further, I must tell you this:
my entire school has been taught common core since elementary school.
there have been many on that page that say that the bible is outdated and needs to be replaced, also that the church was discriminating the rights of the man, even though it was in the policy of the church to do what they did.
people are insulting the bible, they are saying it is worthless.
I am the only true independant at my school.
everyone who gets into the subject of politics with me accuses me of being a republican.
I nearly got called a homophobe, I had to delete all my comments out of fear of being branded as such.
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.
there is a sit in at my school tomorrow lead by students, that will be preaching gay rights.
I am sick and tired of the hypocrisy that is being pumped into my fellow students.
I can do nothing to stop it.
I will attend this sit in.
I will boycott the boy-cotters
I need your input
I know this is weird, but I feel very strongly about this.
search for it on the news tomorrow.
it will probably be considering there will be 1118 people attending.
last of all.
what do you think?
This is directly related to my life, it is going t... (show quote)

It's very hard to love someone who demands you co-sign their bulls**t, isn't it? In Corinthians it says, "We wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers in high places" (paraphrase). Remember that in the future. Those powers manifest themselves vicariously through the people making those demands and they are the true enemy. A believer will fight the enemy without becoming the enemy. It's not easy.

[[there have been many on that page that say that the bible is outdated and needs to be replaced, also that the church was discriminating the rights of the man]]

If a parent brought a child into this world and loved it, nourished it in every way that was right by the laws of the land, taught it the good from the bad of behavior, and would always be there for it when grown and gone, would you think the Mom was out dated when she got old just because one or some of her child's friends disagreed with the way he/she was brought up cause they thought the Mother was too old fashioned now in her thinking? In fact, the Mom is to be commended for the wholesomeness her child kept from her good upbringing that she/he was not like every one else just because they happened to change their lives not to the liking of some of her friends..

All to often, a lot of people, when older, change from the good to the bad cause of pressure of some of their friends. Some like a person to be 'hip' and do things totally foreign to how he/she was brought up.... such as dope as well as a lot of other things! After all, in this day and time, every one is 'doing it'.... doesn't matter that people are so strung out on dope who are around her/him that they are losing their jobs, or losing a lot of their friends cause of it. Which had you rather be around - one with good morals or one without? That choice is your's to make. The Bible has a moral code in it. People can choose to believe in it or not. That choice will be their's to make.

Just because a person was raised one way doesn't mean they are outdated - after all, goodness 'should' reign over bad. Who is so intelligent and hip that they think the Bible should change? If they dont like the way the Bible was written... let them write their own Bible and live by it and not judge those who want to live the way they were brought up and has been forever. If 'others' don't believe in the Bible, so be it. It's their life and it will also be their life when they pass from this earth too. After all, that is one path they will have to take 'alone' not along with one of his/her 'hip' friends who wanted to change the world to their way of thinking.

******************************************************************************

What has changed in the nature of man that would render the bible outdated.

Is man no longer Lustful?
Has gluttony been wiped from the earth?
Has man evolved beyond having greed in his heart?
Have we cured man's tendency toward laziness?
Have we tempered man's tendency towards wrath?
Is man no longer envious of his follow man?
Have we stamped out p***e, does p***e, no longer go before the fall?

If human nature has not changed or improved, if we are still struggling with the same seven deadly sins of the ancients, how then is the bible outdated?

It has become outdated to those who wish to drown out the quiet voice inside them that tells them right from wrong. If I'd listened to that voice I could have saved myself from 2 prison sentences and a lifetime of drug and alcohol addiction. Not to worry, though, Christianity will soon be outlawed and I'll get another chance to go to prison!

Christianity will only be outlawed if good people quit and give up.

Not exactly:
Christian persecution will only increase if there are Christians to persecute which means, at least some Christians haven't quit and chickened out.

The Rise of the Antichrist can only happen, if Christ hasn't been abandoned, otherwise, why would you call him the Anti-Christ.

Then there's the return of Christ, but, if everybody quit on him, who is he returning to?
And who is the tribulation, and rapture be for, if the Christians roll over.

"A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet" De facto illegality is the same as illegality to those being persecuted. I wasn't trying to get into the specifics of Biblical prophecy, so I'll just leave my post as it stands.
