What happens to wages and benefits and working conditions and opportunities for the American people without those making unbelievable profits here re-investing? Capitalism depends on supply and demand. With this strategy, the Oligarchy gains the supreme upper-hand. It is happening now. People mock the idea of a "living wage," countering with "You're lucky to have a job." This attitude hands over to Big Business complete power. They see the trend. It is returning us back to the early 19th Century Robber Barons, treated as benighted aristocracy for being "job-creators" that imporved our country financially while making millions of works into near-indentured servants without benefits and working in deplorable conditions. Their legitimate complaints were treated by those in government as rabble-rousing and Marxist, anti-American.

The Darwinian idea of survival of the fittest had taken hold of the American psyche at the time, which seemed to fit nicely with the "ideals" of rugged-individualism" and Manifest Destiny, which is mirrored in much of what the "Young Guns" and Tea Party are pushing now. Hating Obama, social programs, unions, etc., makes many blind to where the real threat is coming from: Economic Globalization. America is becoming just another cog in its wheel of fortune.

What happens to wages and benefits and working con... (show quote)

On my first reading of this I have to say a hearty amen. But I will have to digest it more.

All I know is I was raised in what was called back in the day, a democrat household. The word repulcian was as bad as cussing in front of your mother. My Dad thougt FDR could walk on water, as in his opinion FDR saved the country from the great depression. I remember as a child he cried when IKE was elected simply because he was a repulican. As I grew older I began working with a union of which I won't name unless forced to, And I also thought they were the next thing to Jesus Christ until I saw the inner workings. I became a business agent and could only last 21/2 years. Some was my fault because I couldn't handle the success of the great increase in wage and benefits. I got so good I could drink a 1/5th a day. But as I realiezed who was doing what to whom. I called my resignation in over the phone. The unions make a perfect picture of what is happening to America. The membership just let the union leaders make all the decisions and they were satisfied until Reagan opened up a new vista for big corp. The answer was simple ,slip in bills that the American public didn't even know what they ment, Whala! Go on strike, get fired. Because there were 500 waiting for your job. Now with what is going on in A to a town near you is, I don't know what's in the bill, we'll have to pass it and see whats in it. And now the average American is just setting on their hands, keeping their mouths shut like good little citizens and let big daddy Guvment do what dey want. That's my take on life in America. More bad news coming soon, pictures at 11:00 pm.
