I roof houses for a living. I misread yesterdays weather forcast and left a house for the evening with 3/4 of the roof torn off. My granddaughter commandeers my laptop every day and my wife was glued to the e******n news so when I finally got to check on it. The forcast said rain in the middle of the night. Great-- I thought. Well I dodged the bullet and we just had a dewfall just before dawn. I got to the job and every thing was dry. That was awesome and made me very happy.

You go, Tom!
I'm happy that you can see this as GOD'S grace.
You have the positive attitude.

Sound familiar?? Although this time it's not a housing bubble...

How is your construction growth, BTW...
To look at it here one would not be expecting a recession...

How are you Linda? I have been away from the computer for a while since my compute went down in flames. Got it repaired but have another computer on the way. Hope it works much better and faster. As for your post. I believe this was predicted months before Trump ever got elected. But as usual some people will blame Trump, since he was on the Republican ticket.

Well I've had 4 knee operations broke my back twice and have artificial tendons in my shoulder take high blood pressure meds but I am still nobody to mess with. If I can crawl to my pickup in the morning I will go to work. I can pack 85 lb bundles up a ladder for half a day and get a roof on in a hurry. I out work younger men and leave them sweating and panting for air. I feel great just getting tired of the pressure. I'll be 66 in a little over 3 years. I'll quit roofing but not living. I'm still raising kids.

Glad to hear that you have such a great outlook on life. I worked until I was 69 and the only retired because of injuries. When you retire just keep doing things that keep you in shape and ready to go. I have been going to the gym for the last 11 years after I retired. One should never give up but keep on trucking and having a happy life.

I really need to start exercising. I'm 51, yet there are people in their seventies who are in better shape than me. I blame it on my computer.

I am 80 and exercise 3 times a week at the gym and bowl one day a week. One needs to keep their equipment working. Just like machines we get rusty when we are not moving and laughing along the way.

Old contractors who stay in shape live a long time. The oldest man I worked for was 96. I gave him the measurements -he cut it out- I nailed it up. His mind was sharp as a tack his cuts were true and we got a lot done together.

Better yet, grab a shotgun and hunt rabbits. It's the best exercise and you just may come home with dinner

I have doubled my work load this year and cut new customers off 5 months ago. I keep things manageable by doing one thing at a time. (not always easy). I saw the last recession coming for a year before it hit. I rode the wave but I pulled in my horns. I paid all my creditors off and cut my crew size down. I survived by keeping it that way. Things are 180 degrees turned around from what the were 8 years ago but I see international trade conditions going south soon. We won't see it coming but I'm going to be ready for it. I can't expect the government to save me.

You are talking my language. I grabbed a shotgun and went hunting every time I had the chance when I was growing up in a place believe it or not called Rabbit Flat

I need to rehabilitate my joints before I can do anything. Walking is about all I can do, and not very well. Even light aerobics is beyond me. I would love to learn Tai-chi, if I could find someplace close by that had lessons. I think that would be the only way I could get back in shape. I'm considering relocating, if I have to.

Can you name one thing the government took over and made better? I can't.

I can guess you live in a humid climate. Is that right?
