You have not aimed your reply at a living person. It is an account used by One Political Plaza to feed topics of discussion to this board. OPP has chosen to focus its efforts on left wing publications which I think is a good idea. It affords me an opportunity to criticize them.

The whole purpose of this site is to have people become engaged in the situations plaguing America socioeconomically. Hopefully, by this interaction we will be able to rectify the problems. John is absolutely correct. To many simply accept or are ill-informed .

If the top earners were to pay SS on every dollar they earn should they get a larger payment when they retire?

Top earners (unless they have made poor investment) do not rely on social security. Moreover, in most cases it's totally unnecessary. However, To tax them at a higher rate simply because the earn more is ridiculous. The monies they pay in never end up in there hands. Furthermore, it will only continue to pay into the Ponzi scheme. I use that term not because I enjoy the Band Wagon. It is simply the t***h. If you do not have a Generation paying into the Plan. Then you have no money to pay the recipients. I don't subscribe to the Scheme. My belief is the government invests the money, makes huge profits from interests and dividends. And then allocates these funds elsewhere. Americans aren't foolish enough to believe that the money they pay into SS is put in an account with their name on it.
