Donald Trump Gives Address On Immigration In Phoenix

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio takes the stage to introduce Republican p**********l candidate Donald Trump at a political rally at the Phoenix Convention Center on July 11, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona.
A polarizing figure that could give a boost to the GOP frontrunner

The self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff in America,” and certainly one of the most controversial, has just endorsed Donald Trump for president.

In a statement, Joe Arpaio said, “Donald Trump is a leader. He produces results and is ready to get tough in order to protect American jobs and families. I have fought on the front lines to prevent i*****l i*********n. I know Donald Trump will stand with me and countless Americans to secure our border.”

Arpaio, now 83, has been the sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona since 1993. Despite his long tenure, he’s a highly d******e public figure. Arpaio struck out a strong nativist, anti-immigration stance long before Trump descended the escalator to announce his candidacy in June 2015. He was an outspoken supporter of Arizona’s harsh 2010 anti-immigrant law, which criminalized the failure to carry immigration documents and gave the police sweeping power to detain people suspected of being in the U.S. illegally. (The Supreme Court ruled on the law in 2012, upholding its most contentious provisions.)

In 2013, a federal court found Arpaio guilty of racially profiling Latinos at traffic stops; he then faced a contempt of court hearing for refusing to stop. He has been the subject of thousands of lawsuits during his tenure as sheriff.

“I have great respect for Sheriff Arpaio,” Trump said in a statement about the endorsement. “We must restore law and order on the border and respect the men and women of our police forces. I thank him for his support of my policies and candidacy for President.”

Trump has made his hardline stance on i*****l i*********n a centerpiece of his campaign, promising to build a wall along the country’s southern border with Mexico and deport all 11 million people in the country illegally. But Arpaio is a controversial figure in law enforcement even outside his questionable treatment of undocumented immigrants. Arpaio also began the nation’s first female and juvenile chain gangs, and forced Maricopa County inmates to wear pink underwear.

Arpaio will appear with Trump in Marshalltown, Iowa Tuesday night. But he wasn’t Trump’s only big endorsement today; Tuesday morning, evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. also announced he was backing the Republican frontrunner.

RUSH: Okay, where are we on the situation here with Trump and the debate? So far Trump says he's not showing up. He claims he's not showing up because Megyn Kelly is going to continue to be a moderator. And if you believe that, I can give you substantive reasons. And it's all in The Art of the Deal. Trump is not that hard to understand if you pay attention to him and read his books. In The Art of the Deal, one of the things that he makes a huge deal about is being able to know when to walk away and have the guts and the courage to do it.

Trump is so far outside the formula that has been established for American politics that people who are inside the formula can't comprehend it. They don't understand why somebody would want to venture so far outside it, because it is what it is, and there's a ladder of success that you have to climb. And somebody challenging it like this in more ways than one, as Trump is doing, has just got everybody experiencing every kind of emotion you can: They're angry, they are flabbergasted, they're shocked, they're stunned -- and all of it because he's leading.

Everything he's doing goes against the book. Everything that any analyst or consultant or professional would tell you not to do, Donald Trump is doing it, and he's leading the pack. This creates its own set of emotions and feelings and thoughts that run from person to person. Now, the political business, if you want to look at it that way, is like any other business. It has its people who are considered the elites in it -- and like any business, they h**e outsiders. They don't want outsiders just storming in trying to take over, and much less succeeding at it.

Like any group of elites, they're exclusionary.

They want to keep people out.

They want to be in charge of who gets in the club. They want to be in charge of who's allowed to rise or climb the ladder in the club. Politics is no different, and all of those determinations are made by who gets money and who doesn't. But Trump is functioning totally outside this structure that has existed for decades. As such, the people who are only familiar with the structure and believe in it and cherish it and want to protect it, feel threatened in ways that you can't even comprehend. So that leads them to try to figure out: How is all this working for Trump? Why do his followers grow? Why does his support expand every time he busts a rule wide open?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: It probably isn't necessary, but let me again say that wh**ever I say today about this or anything else today is not coming from a position of support for any candidate or opposition to any candidate. So wh**ever I happen to say about what I think of Trump skipping the debate, reaction to it, it's not rooted in -- and don't even consider that it's rooted in the fact that you think I might be doing it in support of Trump or in opposition to Trump or in support of Cruz or anybody else. It's none of that.

You've heard the phrase "the game." Every business has aspects of it that are considered the game, and that's the routine. And the game is characterized by everybody knowing the rules of the game. People involved in it play by the rules. Some venture outside now and then, but the rules pretty much of the game are adhered to because it's a matter of respect for the game in which everybody is in.

And in this business one of the games is that when the media calls, you answer, and when the media wants you, you go, and when the media is going to host a debate and it's part of a Republican p**********l campaign, you go. You just do it, no matter what the media's done to you in the past, no matter what you think of it, whether you want to go or not, you go. That's the game.

Trump is so far outside this game, he's so far outside the rules, he's never been a player in this game. He's always been an outsider. I heard people on Fox last night talking about this. "Who does he think he is? He can't control the media." I got news for you: He is controlling the media, and it's his objective. He is controlling the media. He controls the media when he's not on it. He controls the media when he is on it. He controls the media when he's asleep. Nobody else has been able to do anything like this short of the Kennedys, and they're pikers compared to the way Trump is doing this.

Now, it's very simple, if you read The Art of the Deal or if you know Donald Trump at all, it's very simple: He had an unpleasant experience in the first debate, and in his mind, the question that he was asked was r****d. Don't forget, before that first debate, remember all of the news stories that were floating around saying that that debate, somebody at Fox had been given orders by the Republican establishment to take Trump out. Remember that? There were any number of so-called sources for this. Some said it was the donors demanding it. Some said that it was Fox News executives demanding it. Some said it was the RNC demanding it.

Well, Trump's not immune. He hears it. And even if he hadn't heard it he would have to know that they want to take him out; he's outside the game; he's breaking all the rules. He's exposing so much as fraud that has gone on inside the American political process for so long they can't allow somebody like this to win and succeed. It's quite natural they would want to take him out as well. It's Bengals-Steelers time here, folks. It's quite natural they'd want to take him out. Well, he heard it.

Here comes Megyn Kelly's first question. He didn't hear anybody else get a question like that. He never sees Hillary Clinton get a question like that. He never hears Bill Clinton or another Democrat get a question like that. So he answers it and says screw this. I'm not putting myself in that position again. Why should I? I don't have to.

But the rules of the game say when there's a debate, you show up. Screw the rules, he's saying. Why should I willingly give them another shot at me in a circumstance they control, why should I do it? What's the sense in it for me? I'm leading; I'm running the pack here; why in the world should I put myself in that circumstance? I've already seen what's gonna happen.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that. I mean, there could be some personal things going on here that I don't know about. But just from the standpoint of knowing Trump, reading his book, and seeing how he operates elsewhere, in his mind, screw the rules, screw what's expected, screw "This is just the way you do it." I'm not gonna put myself in a position go where I'm gonna be treated unfairly. I don't have to. I'm Donald Trump. Anybody can do this. Ted Cruz could choose to do it if he wants to. They just don't. Cruz and the rest of the pack are playing the rules of the game. Trump is saying I don't have to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't have any respect for these people. What the hell.

In addition to that, Donald Trump knows that by not showing up, he's owning the entire event. Some guy not even present will end up owning the entire event, and the proof of that is Fox News last night. I have to tell you, folks, this is where this gets tough for me. I was stunned watching Fox News last night. Fox News was acting like they had been jilted at the altar. If it had been me -- and this is easy to say -- if it had been me and Donald Trump makes a big to-do about not showing up for the debate, report the story and move on. Talk about Ted Cruz. Go talk about the other candidates. Go talk about Hillary and the FBI. There's a lot of news out there. But don't dev**e the rest of the night to how a candidate's not showing up because of you. I mean, the network, not just Megyn Kelly.

Then they bring in the analysts to analyze what it all means. I'm watching this and I'm really -- very hard for me to say here -- I'm stunned watching this. Because everybody has to know, everybody that's involved has to know that this is exactly one of the things Trump is hoping to achieve. Then bringing Michael Moore on ate in that program to mock Trump.

Look, I understand the warfare that has been established here. If you look at some of the things that Trump's campaign spokesman, Corey Lewandowski has said, if you read between the lines, it looks like what really has ticked 'em off over at Trump central is the mocking of Trump in the official PR statements that Fox has released, making fun, they're gonna call Putin, they're gonna call in the ayatollah, and the ayatollah and Putin, wh**ever. That might have been the nail in the coffin as opposed to any lack of desire to face Megyn Kelly.

But folks, one other thing about this. If I heard it once last night, I've heard it a thousand times since, that Trump is afraid of Megyn Kelly or afraid of Fox News. That is not what this is. There isn't any fear. What is there is here -- in my opinion -- is a desire to control this and a purposeful decision to not put himself in a circumstance where other people want to make him look bad.

In his mind, that's a dumb thing to do. You don't put yourself in a circumstance where a whole bunch of other people are gonna be able to make you look bad while you're there. If they do it when you're not around, that's another thing, you can counterprogram it, you can do wh**ever, but you don't have to put yourself in a circumstance where you have to personally deal with it as a sign of disrespect or somebody else trying to notch their belt. It really isn't any more complicated than that.

Now, Trump's out there talking about how they're desperate to have him because high ratings means a lot of advertising revenue. Lower ratings means lower advertising revenue because Fox has to charge less. They were hoping to get $750,000 a minute, I heard, and they may be down to $150,000 a minute if Trump isn't there. I mean, these are samples of the kind of things going around.

Now, should Trump be there or not, that's a whole other question. Is Trump right in avoiding someplace that makes him look bad, or has the potential to make him look bad? Is it a smart move? Is it a bad move? Well, is it a smart move in terms of Iowa? I heard last night -- this is another thing. I'm sorry, it went in one ear and out the other. "You know, the people of Iowa are not gonna like it. The people of Iowa, they're not gonna take it very well, a guy purposely avoiding them, that's what Trump's doing, he's avoiding the people of Iowa." He's not avoiding the people, come on.

He's not avoiding the people of Iowa. He's all over Iowa. The guy does more TV and radio than any other candidate out there. So I don't think there's fear, and I don't think it's disrespect for the people of Iowa. This is what it looks like when some guy stands up to the rules and the game and says, "Screw yours; I'm looking out for me first. That's all this is. And you can say wh**ever you want, but I am not dumb. I'm not gonna give you the gun and the bullet and stand still. You want to hit me, come get me, but I'm not gonna put myself in your line of fire." That's what he's doing, if you ask me.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We've just scratched the surface on this. There's a lot to add to this because there's new elements now to add to it. But I routinely am asked in the e-mail by people in the audience, "Why don't you do more TV? You're never on TV." And there's an answer for that: "I don't want to." The reason is, why would I go someplace where I know that exactly wh**ever they tell me they want to talk to me about, it's not gonna be that? Why would I go someplace that I know doesn't support me, doesn't like me, disagrees with me, would love to embarrass me or damage my show?

Why should I do that? I have no desire. But the rules say, "Camera, TV! You gotta go on." No. I don't want it, I don't like it, and I certainly don't want to reward the people who have been spreading misquotes and lies for years. Why should I help them? That's me personally. That's why I don't do a whole lot of TV. Folks, you wouldn't believe the number of times a week that we turn down invitations here. I don't mention it because there's never been a reason to, but it's appropriate now to tell you since I get questions about it anyway.

It's all about not rewarding people who I know do not have my best interests at heart, who I know have no interest in anything other than notching their belt. Why help 'em? Especially when I don't like doing makeup anyway. So for me, it's a no-brainer. And it's also easy. I don't have to go on TV to be seen or heard, so I'm fortunate in that regard. A lot of people, the only way they can be seen or heard is to go on TV. And they end up loving it and so forth. It's never captivated me.

Anyway to the phones. I want to get started on phones early here 'cause people I know have their own thoughts and questions. We're gonna start with Peter in Seattle. Thanks for calling, sir. You're up first, and hello.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. It's wonderful to talk to you on a day like today. I'm always excited to hear your guidance and your view on things.

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much. My view is basically that Megyn Kelly needs to step out of the way of the story. We're talking about the p**********l race, leadership of this country. If somebody needs to be able to take a shot at Trump, it's Cruz and the other candidates. Megyn had her chance in the first debate. I don't believe she laid a glove on him. She may want a rematch, but Trump's the champ and the card is the other candidates.

RUSH: Okay. So you're serious. You think that Megyn...? On what basis? For what reason should Megyn say...? I guess you're saying she should announce that she is removing herself from the moderators table, and --

CALLER: I think this would be a very journalistically ethical thing to do.

RUSH: No, no, no, no. That would...? Oh. Now, look, let's construct a scenario here. Let's put your idea together in an actual hypothetical, okay? Let's examine it. Let's say later today Fox News and Megyn Kelly jointly announce that in the interests of the country, in the interests of the Republican p**********l contest, that she is taking the great move of removing herself because she doesn't want to be the reason the people of Iowa are not permitted an opportunity to see one of the candidates. Can you see something like that happening?

There is just no way anything like... These are the rules of this game I'm talking about, folks. The media run this game. The media are never to blame for anything that goes wrong. They have total immunity where all this is concerned. The media has their immunities, and the way everybody plays the game, you have to go through the media to get where you want to go if you are in politics. You have to. And you have to bite your lip along the way. And if you don't, then you have made a perpetual enemy of people (as goes the saying) who buy ink by the barrel.

In this case, that's cable news, airwaves, wh**ever the analogy would be. The media does not look at themselves as an obstacle. The media looks at themselves as part of the obstacle course anybody has to pass in order to get where they want to go in politics. And Trump is saying, "I don't like those rules. Who says I have to go through you? Who says I have to look good according to what you say? Who says I have to get to the American people through you? Why can't I just do my own event?

"Why can't I buy my own microphone, my own camera, my own time, and talk to the American people without you? It seems to me a lot more efficient -- and, more importantly, I control it, and I don't have to deal with people maybe misrepresenting me or putting me in a bad light." The other players in the game who've always abided by these rules were shocked and dismayed that somebody would mock the game this way and to upset it like this. "This cannot stand," and so forth. But no journalist is ever gonna take themselves out. I don't think they should, by the way.

largeYou might consider it to be super patriotic.

But don't forget one of my favorite journalism stories of all time.

Bernard Shaw was in the al-Rashid Hotel during the first Gulf War. It was one of our targets. He got out of there. The US military got Bernard Shaw out. When he got home, the US military wanted to debrief him to find out what he had seen about the enemy, and he said, "I refuse! That would compromise my journalistic ethics."

"What do you mean, 'journalistic ethnics'?"

"Well, I can't help one side over the other."

"Well, it's your own country in a war, for crying out loud."

"Sorry. I can't help."

Not even realizing that it's his own country's Constitution permitting him to do what he's doing. But he couldn't compromise his ethics to help his own country.

I've never forgotten that.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: No, no. I know the guy from Seattle, Peter, the point was that journalists shouldn't be the story. Hey, folks, that ship sailed long ago back with Dan Rather and Sam Donaldson. You can pine away, but that's all you'll be doing.

END TRANSCRIPT

FT3; Field Time Shooting Range; FT3 Stanton, CA Closing
Hi everyone! This is a moment for SoCal Shooters! More importantly, this is one of those moments where "What is Right, should be right; but isn't!" Cutting to the chase, I have been a faithful patron of Field Time Shooting Range since I found out that these guys actually supported the law abiding US citizens of Orange County who love to shoot everything, but are subjugated by the Pinko C****e Regime of the the PR of Kalifornia! The awesome guys at Field Time always brought a level of professionalism, courtesy, and respect to those of us in Kalifornia that know how hard it is to find SAFE and friendly gun ranges with a willingness to allow people a realistic experience of shooting guns of all shapes and calibers within the laws of the PRK. That being said. I was fortunate for one FINAL visit to this fine establishment before it "goes under" tomorrow - January 27, 2016.

This is information direct from the source (The fine day-to-day staff of FT3 aka Field Time Shooting Range) so I am going to say that this is no joking matter. Apparently, the entire staff of about 30 employees got their layoff papers today (effective immediately after the last shooter from Calguns Shoot night exited at closing). The Range Director, the current GM, and the Range Master today were all up front today, and everyone was buzzing about what the hell was going on with all the talk about the uncertainty of the the range being open tomorrow. For about 4 years this place has operated under a level of professionalism and safety that I have never experienced at any of the other ranges located in SoCal. Most of the time, the places are "exclusive" that require you to kiss someone's @$$ after you kiss the gold ring on their big toe before they let you shoot anything, and god forbid you shoot a caliber that may cause problems because it comes out of an M4 style rifle (thanks range guys in Fullerton, CA - you guys SUCK); or you get a toilet by the Ocean that charges an arm and your firstborn, where the level of attention by the staff makes you wonder why an negligent discharge hasn't k**led someone (thanks Huntington Beach guys - you guys SUCK too!) Both of these "nameless" places still refuse to even attempt what Field Time did effortlessly - and what these OTHER places do is so subpar it is amazing that these guys are even in business at all. But the fact that FT3 is closing has nothing to do with failures from the day-to-day staff. They too are getting the shaft!
Now to be fair, no names will be dropped here, as there may be an active OC Sheriffs' Dept investigation as to the use of scare tactics by plain clothes officers that were conscripted by a formerly disgraced Sheriff/Police Chief (from the Inland Empire) under the direction of the majority share holder of Field Time. This is where the stupidity really starts. Apparently, the chaos behind the scenes at Field Time had been going on for sometime, but things really came to a head within the last couple of days and the previous week. The guy at the center of the chaos (who will remain nameless here) is the majority share holder of the Field Time initiated this crap because he wanted to fire the 30 plus employees who are the "day-to-day" staffers because in his words - "The employees are too nice to customers, and they are all over paid." Funny enough, the i***ts who he thinks he will bring in for about $11.00/hour will be "trained, knowledge driven, safe, and professional" as the current staff that are employed until midnight tonight. The current GM literally gave out layoff papers today to try to ease this share holder lunatic from just out right firing 30 plus hard working people in one day. This majority share holder guy has used intimidation tactics and damn near used this former disgraced sheriff/police chief with his local cronies to try and come in to take over the place by force, under the auspices of "law enforcement". In an off the record quote, one of these "tools" that came out threatened a "blood bath" if there was a mishandling of a cell phone, that may have been misconstrued as a weapon being pulled. Who does that!?! This turd, his "legal consultant" and some off-duty wannabe mercs make a threat of violence against law abiding staff members who have done NOTHING in their 4 year history to make even the FEDs look sideways at them! (There was discussion that the current OC Sheriff is looking into whether or not any of her current officers were on the clock and present during these very illegal intimidation events) I guess copies of surveillance footage and witness statements were forwarded onto the Sheriff's administrative office. It will be funny if I.A. finds out that on-duty Deputies or Investigators were part of this crap - and at whose expense!

Suffice it to say, there is a lot of bad back story drama and anger brought on by greed and stupidity of one sole investor who decided that raping the public at large is more important than RULE #1 - TAKING CARE YOUR EMPLOYEES and YOUR DEV**ED CUSTOMERS! I keep mentioning the 30 plus staffers that will be former employees as of tomorrow. But these are the guys and gals that "open the gates in the morning, turn on the exhaust system that keeps the range clear of toxic fumes and heat, reload ammunition to competition spec, engage new customers that become repeat customers, and keep your repeat patrons safe" Who's going to do all that now "bonzo"?!? The new guy you hire tomorrow and pay $11.00/hour. Good luck with that decision, especially when things go missing because the $11.00 guy just doesn't care to be there other than to carry a gun like he thinks soldiers do in an AO overseas. Better luck when there is a negligent discharge because your $11.00/hour guy forgets to notice an i***t looking down the barrel because your rental guns jammed due to a lack of quality servicing. Let's not forget about missing guns that the FEDs may be looking at because the guy you hired today may have friends who "just needed a gun for a weekend at the river". Oh, and last but not least the "new guy" is younger and dumber than $#!t has no idea how to clear the track on your target lanes when the pulley system goes down, because he wasn't there to train on how the system works - because you forced a layoff of all the guys who were trained on that system from the day it was installed!

But enough of my b!tching about the man who screwed his 30 plus dev**ed day-to-day employees. You sir are the last Son of a B!tch that I would stop to help on the side of the road because of 1 thing and 1 thing alone - not even the 2nd Amendment trumps this one - you F@cked with family! Not just the family of FT3, but you put 30 people out of jobs and paychecks that go to feed their families! The business was doing great, the patronage had not faltered, losses would be negligible against who was coming in your doors and the loyal members you had.

With this I am calling on everyone to look good and hard at what has happened at FT3 or Field Time Shooting Range in Stanton, CA - and support the guys who just got their @$$3$ handed to them because: 1.) They were too nice to customers, and 2.)Based on the analysis of a sole investor- they were all overpaid. Despite the other investors and the GM saying that they ALL were paid fairly because of the level of service and professionalism they provided to the patrons. I am boycotting and turning my business to other places like Raahauges shooting range in Ontario. Until the guys like Carson, Locke, Mark, Doug, and the rest of the 27 staff members are brought back and promised job safety and security from this sole investor - I am done with FT3.

God Bless all the guys and gals of FT3 family (The real family and their families) you may have lost a home - but I will be damned if the @$$#0l# running it now gets any business or revenue from your loss!

2nd Amendment supporters, SoCal Shooters, and people who know the value of family - Boycott and spread the word on what has gone down at FT3 - and let everyone know the place is NO LONGER a safe place to shoot your guns! Do not give any business to the new management or the owners! Members get a refund on your memberships if you can! Ammo is no longer being reloaded safely under the standards by which things had been done on a previous basis (competition quality reloads), and if you bring in a gun that a "range cop" may find Kalifornia offensive (the dude just might be a moonlighting cop) that cop may call a buddy of his to take you out in the parking lot! Be careful and stay away!

Everything you need to know about the Iowa caucuses and why they matter

V**es are tallied during a precinct caucus near Smithland, Iowa, in 2012. (Dave Weaver / Associated Press)
By Mark Z. BarabakContact Reporter
E******ns Democratic Party Republican Party Ted Cruz

On Monday, at 7 p.m. local time, Iowa v**ers will begin the process of picking the country’s next president at a series of nearly 1,700 gatherings in meeting halls, high school gymnasiums and community centers between the Missouri and the Mississippi rivers.

The Iowa caucuses will go a long way toward shaping the p**********l race, even though the results have little bearing on the delegates that Iowa will send to the national nominating conventions.

If it sounds arcane and confusing, that’s because it is. We’re here to help.

What is a caucus?
A caucus is a precinct-level meeting of politically like-minded individuals. Participation is open to anyone over age 18, or who will be old enough to v**e in the Nov. 8 p**********l e******n. There is no cost to attend and an individual can show up Monday night and register with the party of his or her choosing. However, participants must be there at the designated time—unlike, say, a primary where polling places are open from morning to night—and wait for the chance to v**e for their p**********l favorite. That puts a premium on committed supporters willing to turn out on a chilly evening and stick around.

How does it work?
Republicans and Democrats caucus differently.

After some organizational business and speeches, Republicans write down their pick for president and turn in their secret b****t.

Democrats break into groups according to their preference, plain for all to see. If a candidate fails to achieve the “viability” threshold of at least 15%, he or she is eliminated and supporters fall in behind another Democratic candidate. Or they can go home, though that is considered bad caucus form.

Why do the parties do things differently?
Because they can. Caucuses are party meetings, independent of any government or e******n agency. So the parties set their own rules. Democrats were deeply divided over the Vietnam War, so they fashioned the viability rule as a way of forging consensus and avoiding a split of the party into multiple small factions.

Why does Iowa go first?
Because for a long time, nobody much cared. The caucuses have been taking place, in some form, since the early 1800s. The p**********l preference v**e was an add-on, a bit of fun for insiders who were gathered to attend to party business. In 1972, the national media picked up the results of the informal b****ting and that helped George S. McGovern, a surprising favorite, push past better-known rivals to win the party’s nomination. Four years later, underdog Jimmy Carter used a strong Iowa showing to win the White House, and Iowa has occupied a prime spot on the political calendar ever since.

Has anyone challenged Iowa’s primacy?
Politicos in other states constantly gripe about Iowa’s outsized role, but the national parties set rules that keep it first, and no p**********l candidate hoping to win the state ever wants to be seen as anything less than whole-hog for Iowa. So while there is perennial talk of Iowa losing its first-in-the-nation caucus slot, nothing has ever come of it. Under the national rules, New Hampshire holds the first p**********l primary eight days later.

Winning the nomination is all about winning national convention delegates. So how do the caucuses affect that process?
They don’t, really. The caucuses elect delegates to county conventions, the first step in a long, complicated process that eventually yields Iowa’s delegates to the national convention many months from now. But by then no one is paying attention outside Iowa.

So why is the whole political world obsessed with the results in Iowa on Monday night?
Because after months of polls, debates, rumors, speculation and other chattering, Iowa will provide the first test of actual v**er sentiment. Also, it takes a lot of work to ensure supporters show up and caucus. So the popularity contest is seen as a test of both a candidate’s appeal as well as his or her ability to build a campaign that has the organizational mettle to win the nomination.

So whoever gets the most v**es wins?
Not necessarily. Expectations play an enormous role in judging the caucuses. A candidate seen as performing better than expected can be judged a winner, while a candidate who performs worse than anticipated may be deemed a loser. Perhaps the best example came in 1984, when former Vice President Walter F. Mondale won nearly half the v**e, but the “winner” was Colorado Sen. Gary Hart, who got an unexpected 16.5% support. That launched him into a months-long struggle with Mondale for the nomination, who ultimately prevailed. But Hart’s performance turned him into the Democrats’ 1988 national front-runner until his candidacy flamed out in scandal.

What are the expectations this time?
On the Republican side, if anyone other than Donald Trump or Ted Cruz finishes in first or second place, it will be a shocker. Among Democrats, the race is so close that a first-place finish by either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders would not be a big surprise. If Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, an asterisk in polls, somehow slipped into one of the top-two slots, that would also be a stunner. Beyond that, if any candidate on either side blows out the rest of the field, that would constitute a major surprise and a huge victory. A Des Moines Register/Bloomberg poll released Saturday night showed Donald Trump up slightly over Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders effectively tied. Those results went a long way toward setting expectations, and any significant deviation could determine whether a candidate is deemed a winner or loser.

WHY 65% OF POLICE ON EARTH USE GLOCKS?????

A NEW GLOCK BELIEVER

I’m one of those guys. You know, the ones who could be heard saying, “Those plastic, ugly things? I could never carry one. They have no personality and are butt-ugly!” You read right; I was literally basing my opinion of a firearm solely on its looks. I recognized the reputation of safety and reliability, but I allowed my narrow-mindedness in regards to firearm aesthetics to cloud my judgment when it came to considering Glocks for purchase. Then, one day, I decided to finally get my concealed handgun license, and while searching for good carry weapons, a friend told me to seriously consider Glock. As I respect this friend’s opinion immensely, I did so. What I found was both perception-shattering and life changing.

As you may have read in this article, my background as a U.S. Marine was with the M1911A1 and the M9. I received lengthy training with both of these service pistols, and I felt very comfortable with them. The pistol I carried most or had readily available to me at all times was a Colt Series ’70 that was given to me by my brother-in-law. When I would go to the range, I would practice with it and also with the M9, and both just felt like “home” to me. Over 30 years of working with two weapons systems does bring a comfortable familiarity. It also brought a large degree of confidence. However, neither of these pistols are readily concealable; I’m a short man, and these large-frame pistols print horribly on me. Enter Glock into the pool of candidates to become my ECW.

As my friend and I discussed ECW options, he told me that he personally carried a Ruger, but was looking to replace it with a Glock 43. He began telling me about it, and from the description alone, I felt that he was describing the type of pistol I would prefer to carry as my ECW. The fact that it was a Glock melted away from my list of concerns as he explained to me how the striker worked, how the safety devices built into the Glocks were designed and how they worked, and ultimately, how little maintenance they require. My 1911’s are a lot of things, but maintenance free isn’t one of them. I decided to go to a local gun store that was having a free-shooting event with most of the big-name manufacturers on-hand to let people fire their pistols. It was there that I shot Sigs, Glocks, Smith & Wesson M&P’s, Walthers, Kimbers, and Rugers. Of all the pistols I shot, I felt best with the Sigs and the Glocks. However, the words of my friend kept coming back to me, and I decided that the Glock was the one for me.

Fortunately for me, there was a gun show coming the following Saturday, so I held off on buying in the store that day and waited for the gun show. We arrived early in the morning (before the doors opened) and my two friends and I immediately set out to find Glock 43’s at the best price. After about 20 minutes, we met up and compared prices and found a brand new one for $423. Bingo! I jumped on it and laid out the cash and purchased my first Glock. It was a cute little pistol, and I immediately bought a OWB holster from Tucker & Boyd and some extra magazines. When I got home, I purchased some Pearce +1 magazines, and the following day, I purchased some Hornady Critical Defense rounds for it.

I field stripped the pistol and fell in love with the simplicity of the engineering. The finish was very nice, but the way that the pistol was laid out, how everything was so dead-nuts simple just really impressed me. I watched some videos to learn how to detail strip it, and for educational purposes, I did that as well. Having built AR’s in the past and taken apart my M9 and 1911’s beyond field stripping, the Glock was a marvel of engineering. How it came apart and went together so easily is something that I felt was superior in design; truly a modern pistol. After putting it back together, I took it to the range and did very well with it. It was then that I decided that I wanted a Glock 19.

I called my friend and asked him if he knew where I could find the best price for a Gen 4 Glock 19 in our city. He gave me the name of a gun store that I could call, and sure enough, they had them for $521. This seemed fair to me as a non-gun show price, so I told them I’d be right over. Thirty minutes later, I was the owner of a Gen 4 Glock 19. When I got home, I purchased the extended slide release lever and some extra magazines, both OEM and Magpul. I also bought some Meprolight sights on Amazon and a sight tool on eBay that was made for Glocks. I was now getting invested into Glocks.

After putting these parts on my new G19, I took it to the range and fell in love with it. I did have problems with it at first, but it turned out I wasn’t holding it right and probably limp wristing it (even though I was sure I wasn’t). Shooting the 1911’s and M9 allow you to have a grip that is not quite as firm as needed for a Glock. While it wasn’t as much an issue with the G43, the G19 demands the more firm grip. Once I got this figured out, it became my favorite shooter.

After having the Gen 4 Glock 19 for a week or so, I decided to buy one for my daughter. AIM Surplus had a batch of police trade-in pistols on sale for $359, so I purchased one. Along with some Meprolight sights, extended slide release, and some Pearce magazine bases that fill the hole on the front of the grip, I set this pistol up for my daughter as a Christmas present. She has yet to receive it, but will soon.

The bug bit me hard, and since my daughter had been talking about getting into competitive shooting, I decided it would be something nice that she and I can do to spend time together now that she’s moved out and on her own. I figured that having a G34 would be a good idea, so here on the Glocktalk Classifieds, I found a Gen 3 Glock 34 for a good price. It had probably ~200 rounds though it, which just meant to me that it was broken in. I purchased it, and received it about a week later. I put some TruGlos on it and it is one of the nicest shooting pistols I’ve ever shot. My wife likes shooting it as well, but not as much as the next Glock I purchased.

The Glock 17 is the one that started it all, and it was the one I first became aware of back in the late 80’s. It was the famous “Plastic gun” that erroneously was touted by the press as being a gun that could be carried through a metal detector without alerting. This, obviously, is false, but the rumors were rampant. Also of note was its polymer construction which, back in the 80’s, was looked down upon. Sure, the M16A2’s we carried had polymer handguards, pistol grips, and stocks, but those were not integral parts of the weapon. That the frame of the Glock 17 was polymer frankly scared a lot of us. Would it be able to hold up? What would happen to them in 5 years? 10 years? Well, fast-forward nearly 30 years, and the Glocks have more than proven themselves, and I was ready to accept it.

At this point, having purchased four Glocks, it was time to make the leap and get the original: the Glock 17. I opted for a Gen 4, and I haven’t regretted it. I was able to use my GSSF purchase card and bought it at a local Blue Label dealer for $425. To say that this pistol fits me perfectly is an understatement. It’s the pistol I have found I shoot the best with, and of all my pistols, my wife loves the Glock 17 the most. Everything about it just sings to me, and at this time, I can’t see myself looking elsewhere for a pistol that just works for me, my hand, and my shooting style. Whenever I go to the range, the Glock 17 is always with me, and always the first pistol (and often the last) that I shoot.

A funny thing happened along the way to the Glock party; I fell in love with the aesthetics. Much like a kitchen knife or a good hammer, tools develop an identity or a personality, especially when they prove to be reliable, easy to use, and help make the job at hand easier. The Glock pistols I’ve purchased fit the bill in all the aforementioned areas. I’ve found that I actually really like how they look, and while the 1911 is still the quintessential look for a semi-auto pistol in my mind, the Glocks are now my favorites. I was late getting to the Glock party, but I’m here now. I’m here to stay, and this round of drinks is on me.

Adrenaline and Self Defense - Friend or Foe?

A recent trend in the self defense world is to emphasize the importance of adrenaline and its effect on our ability to defend ourselves. In fact there are whole self defense systems built around overcoming the negative effects of adrenaline.
This is a short essay written to examine the effects of adrenaline. My goal is to give you information to help turn adrenaline into your friend instead of your foe.

What is adrenaline anyway?
Adrenaline is a chemical (actually a hormone) produced by the two adrenal glands, which are located on top of the kidneys (ad - renal, on - kidney). These glands secrete adrenaline directly into the blood stream when people are exposed to something that they see as potentially dangerous.

Because adrenaline has to be carried by the blood to all the different parts of the body, it takes a second or two before people will feel its effects. I will explain below how this slight delay can be important in how you react to danger.

What does adrenaline do?
Physically, adrenaline increases your heart rate, raises your blood pressure, and is associated with a diversion of blood away from certain areas of your brain and internal organs and into your muscles. As a result, adrenaline has the ability to increase speed and strength. It also decreases how much people feel pain. A large amount of adrenaline released into your system all at once causes what is often called an adrenaline dump, rush, or surge. All of these effects are designed to prepare your body to either run away or to fight.

What does an adrenaline surge feel like?
Adrenaline can make you feel energized, or it can make you feel shaky, weak or sick to your stomach. Sometimes all of these feelings come at the same time, which can be confusing. Results of an adrenaline surge might also include:
• feeling as though time has slowed down.
• tunnel vision, you only see what is in front of you and not what is around you.
• a sensation of your mind wandering or floating, making it hard to concentrate.
• decreased coordination.
• difficulty in thinking clearly.

I do not know whether these sensations result directly from the adrenaline itself, or if some other factor, like sensory overload from trying to figure out what is happening around you, causes them. As an emergency physician I have given pure adrenaline as a drug to treat many people having severe allergic reactions. Treatment involves injecting them with amounts of adrenaline far greater than what the body produces naturally.

Many of these patients have described feeling shaky, weak, and nauseated as a result. I have not heard complaints of the other feelings often attributed to adrenaline. What is important for you to know is that when you are in a situation likely to cause an adrenaline surge, these are the feelings you are likely to experience.

How does adrenaline affect your ability to react to danger?
The effect of an adrenaline surge depends on many different things. Sometimes you have no warning that something is about to happen until you are suddenly startled by a surprise attack or other unexpected event. When startled in this way, it is natural to momentarily freeze, jump, flinch, or run.

Your first response normally happens without the effect of adrenaline because it takes a second or two for the adrenaline surge to hit. During those first pre-adrenaline seconds, you will may or may not move. People’s initial reaction is normally based on how circumstances interact with their personality, and their built-in tendency to react a certain way under stress, without adrenaline.

Once adrenaline kicks in, it will likely reinforce your initial response. If you are frozen, you might find it even harder to break out of it and take action. This is especially likely if you are overwhelmed by an unfamiliar adrenaline surge and misinterpret the feelings associated with it as fear or panic.

People often associate fear with helplessness. Helplessness is not a good mindset when you need to take action to ensure your own safety and the safety of others. This is why an adrenaline surge can sometimes make freezing worse.

If you do not freeze initially, your adrenaline surge is more likely to be helpful as long as it is directed into effective action. If you are already running, you may run faster. If you are fighting, you may fight harder.

However, sometimes adrenaline can make a person fight back so frantically that although they are fighting hard, the techniques are uncoordinated and not very effective. This ineffective, frantic way of fighting back is sometimes called “flailing”.

There are also times when you see danger developing more gradually and adrenaline does get a chance to work before it becomes clear that you need to do something to respond to the threat. In this case adrenaline can still interfere with your ability to think clearly and initiate a response as both your adrenaline levels and the level of the threat increase.

How can you learn to use adrenaline to your advantage?
In order to put the effect of adrenaline into perspective let’s break it down into individual problems.

Problem # 1.
An adrenaline surge is unexpected and unfamiliar
Now you know what an adrenaline surge is and, at least in theory, what it feels like. You know that although fear is normal in scary situations, the sensation of an adrenaline surge is not the same thing as panic, and does not mean you are helpless.

Problem # 2
Adrenaline makes it hard to think clearly
This is true to some degree. On the other hand, emergency workers such as police officers, fire fighters and emergency physicians do their jobs on a regular basis while experiencing an adrenaline surge. Even medical students early in their training are able to function quite well under such circumstances. This is because they have had pr********n and practice. This means that, although adrenaline does to some extent interfere with clear thinking, and can make you tremble and be uncoordinated, it is still possible to be very effective during an adrenaline surge.

Problem # 3
Adrenaline can cause freezing
OK, this is the big one. As explained above, freezing can occur without adrenaline, but adrenaline can make it worse. The reality is that every time you face something new, there is a moment of hesitation before you react. Freezing is just what happens when this hesitation takes too long and you find yourself in deeper trouble as a result. So how can you minimize this effect?

Use adrenaline to help prevent freezing in the first place
Have you ever found yourself in a situation that did not particularly frighten you, but when you felt the hair on the back of your neck stand on end and your heart start to pound for no apparent reason? Maybe you told yourself “Why is this happening? There is nothing here to be afraid of.”

What you were experiencing may have been an adrenaline surge because your instincts were warning you of hidden danger. This is an example of how adrenaline can be your friend if you learn to listen to it. An adrenaline warning can prevent you from getting into a situation where freezing could occur. Gavin De Becker in his book The Gift of Fear provides a wonderful explanation of how your instincts can help you to recognize “hidden” danger. http://www.gavindebecker.com

Accept momentary freezing as part of a normal response
When the adrenaline surge hits, you can use this as a signal that you now have the strength, speed and pain tolerance to deal with the situation and escape from danger. You can recognize the adrenaline surge and take advantage of the power it provides. The important point is to accept the temporary freeze as something you have to get through in order to figure out what is happening and to make the right choices about how to deal with the problem effectively.

Make the unfamiliar more familiar
Adrenaline is especially a problem when you are surprised by the unexpected. This can include the unexpected sensations of the adrenaline surge itself, or the circumstances that caused it. You now have read what an adrenaline surge feels like. By participating in a high quality self defense course, you can also get some first hand experience as to what an adrenaline surge feels like in a controlled, supportive, safe environment.

Sanford Strong describes how it is possible to make dangerous situations more familiar in his excellent book Strong on Defense. www.sanfordstrong.com

Strong believes that a very important part of personal safety and self defense is mental preparedness. He suggests running through scenarios in your mind involving dangerous situations that could actually happen to you.

What would you do if confronted by a stranger asking for a dollar on the street, or for all your money at an ATM, or standing over your bed at three in the morning? What would you do if this same person threatened your loved one in order to get you to cooperate with him? Well, for starters, you would get an adrenaline surge.

But by using mental preparedness to imagine scenarios and solutions, you can make decisions about what to do in these frightening situations in advance. This increases your chances of making the best choices possible if the real thing ever happens and the adrenaline is flowing. Practicing mental preparedness means thinking about some very scary possibilities. However, people usually feel safer and less paranoid when they mentally rehearse working out solutions to possible problems.

Understand the places where the mind gets stuck when we freeze
There are 3 ways that people react once they realize that they are being attacked.
These are:
DENIAL: "This can't be happening!"
REALITY: "This is happening!"
RESOLVE" "This is not going to happen"

It is OK to freeze at first as long as you find a way to get past Denial and into Reality and Resolve. Become determined that “This is not going to happen”. This will prevent you from freezing when adrenaline hits. Just knowing about Denial, Reality and Resolve can help you to move to the third stage and overcome your normal hesitation.

By taking the time to prepare yourself through practice and increased understanding of how adrenaline works, you will ensure that adrenaline is your friend and not your foe in a self defense situation.

Eighty Swiss banks have agreed to pay the US fines totaling $1.36 billion in order to avoid court prosecution, according to the US Justice Department.
After the investigation has been completed all the banks are required to cooperate in related criminal or civil proceedings, said the department.
The US Justice Department began its Swiss Bank Program in 2013. It provided a way for Swiss banks to admit tax-related criminal offenses in connection with the US.
Under the program, the banks were obliged to disclose cross-border activities and provide detailed information on accounts in which US taxpayers have interests. The financial institutions under investigation also had to close accounts of US tax evaders.
The banks have managed to avoid a trial, with those already facing criminal charges excluded from the program.
The US started its tax avoidance push in 2009 after UBS Group confirmed it held accounts of Americans evading tax. The US government managed to recover $13 billion in unreported wealth.

Tim Leissner, chairman of Goldman Sachs Southeast Asia’s operations, has taken a “personal leave” amidst corruption scandals associated with Malaysia’s state-owned 1MDB fund, with which Goldman worked closely.
President of Goldman’s Singapore operations since 2006 and chairman of its Southeast Asia operations since 2014, Leissner oversaw the bank’s operations in Malaysia, where it became the top international bank with a 20.3 percent market share since 2010.
Leissner was seen as a “key player” in cultivating the bank’s very profitable relationships with Kuala’ Lumpur’s banking and government elite, including Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, the Financial Times reports.
Goldman worked on Malaysian mergers and acquisitions worth a total of $18.8 billion over the last five years, but it is the bank’s involvement with the state-owned investment and development company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), that has attracted scrutiny.
A number of investigations into 1MDB’s activities are being carried out in various countries, prompted by claims of corruption involving Razak, who chairs 1MDB.
Switzerland’s chief prosecutor, Attorney General Michael Lauber, said in a statement on Friday that he has asked for Malaysia’s help in investigating possible violations of Swiss law by 1MDB, Reuters reported. The suspected misappropriations reportedly amount to $4 billion and concern “bribery of foreign officials, misconduct in public office, money laundering and criminal mismanagement.”
It was discovered this week that Leissner has moved from Singapore to his Los Angeles home, calling it a “personal leave,” Bloomberg reports.
Goldman orchestrated the $6.5 billion sale of three 1MDB bonds in 2012 and 2013, from which the bank earned $593 million in fees and expenses. The deal has raised questions, as such fees in Malaysia are usually much lower.
It has since emerged that Razak received a $681 million “donation” to his personal bank account, which his opponents say is linked to the deal.
The results of an investigation into the matter by Malaysian Attorney General Mohamed Apandi Ali, who was appointed by Razak in 2015, were published this week, but found no wrongdoing.
The probe found that the money had come from a Saudi Arabian royal family and that $620 million was returned within the following five months. There was no indication in the report as to what happened to the unaccounted for $61 million.
State agencies in Hong Kong and the United States are also investigating other deals involving 1MDB.

The German government is set to spend €600 million euros housing migrants in upmarket Berlin hotels at a cost of 18,000 per “refugee,” while the city’s 10,000 homeless population will remain on the streets.
According to a Frankfurter Allgemeine report, “The Berlin Senate is negotiating with a hotel chain over the longer-term leasing of 10,000 hotel places for refugees.” Grand City Hotels will provide 22 hotels which will include Holiday Inn and Wyndham properties.
The 10,000 figure is noteworthy given that it equates to the homeless population of Berlin.
The cost for each migrant will be €50 euros a night for the hotel accommodation or €18,000 euros per year and will include an “all inclusive” program of care and integration.
“Since the Senate has reportedly interested in a multi-year term of the lease, it would amount to a volume of at least €600 million euros,” a source told the newspaper. A Senate spokesperson expressed surprise that Frankfurter Allgemeine had uncovered details of the secret plan, remarking, “That’s not public.”
The deal is attractive to the hotel chain because the government would guarantee an occupancy rate of 95% compared to the usual figure of 60 to 65 per cent.
80,000 asylum seekers arrived in Berlin alone last year, part of the 1.1 million that flooded into Germany, a figure eight times Berlin’s homeless population.
In other words, Berlin could have completely solved its homeless problem eight times over yet will instead use taxpayer money to fund accommodation for non-Germans flooding in from the Middle East and north Africa.
Critics allege that the deal is wide open to corruption and abuse because it was conducted secretly via no-bid contracts.
Authorities in Berlin have already confiscated 50 gymnasiums as well as office and bank buildings to house migrants arriving in the city.
The issue is only likely to increase public opposition to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open border policy. During demonstrations in Neubrandenburg, protesters jeered and booed Merkel.

Thief Who Stole More Than 85 Guns Receives Probation In Plea Deal

Don’t talk to me about passing a single new gun law if you aren’t fighting to make sure criminals are being prosecuted to the fullest extent of our existing laws. Criminals who commit crimes involving firearms are routinely allowed to cut plea deals on every level, even after people are k**led with stolen or straw-purchased weapons.

A gun thief in Minnesota who is receiving probation after stealing more than 85 guns is just the latest example of our nation’s continued failure to put those committing gun crimes behind bars.

One of three area men charged with breaking into a Pleasant Valley Township home to cut open a safe with a blowtorch and steal more than $100,000 worth of guns, was sentenced to probation last week.

Brian Reicks, 19, of Riceville, Iowa, pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft of a firearm and one count of felony theft for taking a motor vehicle without consent as part of the agreement Oct. 15, 2015. He was originally charged with an additional count of felony theft and an additional count of felony first-degree burglary and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Reicks was sentenced to 20 years of supervised probation.

Reicks, Jacob Mogren, 18, and Isaac Morse, 20, also allegedly stole several motorcycles and other equipment from the property.

According to court complaints, the men allegedly broke into a home on April 8, 2015, where they tipped over a gun safe, cut open the bottom of it, and stole more than 85 guns, then allegedly stored the guns at Morse’s home in Riceville.

Two 1975 Norton Commando 850cc motorcycles were also stolen, and were later recovered from a La Crescent, Minnesota, man who paid about $1,600 for the motorcycles from a man pretending to be the victim.

Most of the guns were sold, and police recovered at least 82 of them.
In other words, there are at least four stolen firearms still in criminal hands because of Reicks’s burglary, and the prosecutor let him off with a slap on the wrist and released him back into society where he can cause more crimes. He should instead be in court facing more than 85 felony counts and the possibility of rotting in prison for decades.

Unfortunately, neither district attorneys nor federal prosecutors seem to have any interest in treating firearms theft, straw-purchasing, or firearms trafficking with any degree of seriousness.

Until prosecutors start treating these crimes as a serious matter, we should not accept any cries from politicians to pass more firearms-related laws.

Washington, DC - President Obama designated three new national monuments in the California desert, encompassing nearly 1.8 million acres of America’s public lands. Building on the Administration’s commitment to protect our land and water for future generations, today’s designations will nearly double the number of acres of public lands previously protected as national monuments by President Obama demonstrating the Administration’s strong commitment to aggressive action to protect the environment for future generations.

In addition to permanently protecting incredible natural resources, wildlife habitat and unique historic and cultural sites, and providing recreational opportunities for a burgeoning region, the monuments will support climate resiliency in the region and further advance the President’s unprecedented work to address c*****e c****e. The new monuments will link already protected lands, including Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave National Preserve, and fifteen congressionally-designated Wilderness areas, permanently protecting key wildlife corridors and providing plants and animals with the space and elevation range that they will need in order to adapt to the impacts of c*****e c****e.

The new monuments are Mojave Trails National Monument, Sand to Snow National Monument and Castle Mountains National Monument in southern California.

Mojave Trails National Monument: Spanning 1.6 million acres, more than 350,000 acres of previously congressionally-designated Wilderness, the Mojave Trails National Monument is comprised of a stunning mosaic of rugged mountain ranges, ancient lava flows, and spectacular sand dunes. The monument will protect irreplaceable historic resources including ancient Native American trading routes, World War II-era training camps, and the longest remaining undeveloped stretch of Route 66. Additionally, the area has been a focus of study and research for decades, including geological research and ecological studies on the effects of c*****e c****e and land management practices on ecological communities and wildlife.
Sand to Snow National Monument: Encompassing 154,000 acres, including just over 100,000 acres of already congressionally-designated Wilderness, Sand to Snow National Monument is an ecological and cultural treasure and one of the most biodiverse areas in southern California, supporting more than 240 species of birds and twelve threatened and endangered wildlife species. Home to the region’s tallest alpine mountain that rises from the floor of the Sonoran desert, the monument also will protect sacred, archaeological and cultural sites, including an estimated 1,700 Native American petroglyphs. Featuring thirty miles of the world famous Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, the area is a favorite for camping, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, photography, wildlife viewing, and even skiing.
Castle Mountains National Monument: The Castle Mountains National Monument is an integral piece of the Mojave Desert with important natural resources and historic sites, including Native American archeological sites. The 20,920-acre monument will serve as a critical connection between two mountain ranges, protecting water resources, plants, and wildlife such as golden eagles, bighorn sheep, mountain lions and bobcats.
Following decades of local input and leadership from Senator Dianne Feinstein, today’s designation’s will enhance the region’s economic activity by attracting visitors, increasing tourism, and ensuring public access for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, rock climbing and other outdoor recreation activities for generations to come. Permanent protection for the three new national monuments is strongly supported by local governments, tribes, business groups, elected officials, community leaders, and a variety of stakeholders including faith leaders, sportsmen, historians, conservationists and others. Additionally, the designations complement an ongoing planning process for renewable energy development on public lands in the California desert and furthers the longstanding work with public land managers and local communities to protect these lands for future generations.

In addition to protecting more land and water than any Administration in history – more than 265 million acres – the President has sought to ensure that all Americans and future generations have the opportunity to experience the natural and cultural richness of our national parks, monuments, forests and other public lands. Nearly a year ago, the President announced the launch of the Every Kid in a Park program to give every 4th grader in America free access to visit the country’s unparalleled public lands, and over the course of the next year, the Administration will continue to encourage all Americans to “find your park” and experience firsthand the wonder of America’s great outdoors. Moreover, the Administration is working to galvanize public and private support to achieve the goals of Every Kid in a Park and boost additional efforts to connect more underserved youth with nature.

Inspired by the Administration’s commitment to connecting more young Americans to the outdoors and by the President’s trip to Alaska last summer, IslandWood, the Sierra Club, the Children & Nature Network's Natural Leaders, and action sports retailer Zumiez are today announcing a new project called "Fresh Tracks." Their independent project will provide two dozen youth from underserved Los Angeles and Alaska Native communities with opportunities to travel together to both areas and explore diverse cultures and outdoors over a three-week period in August. Their project is particularly focused on working with communities responding to the My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge, a call to action by President Obama for cities, Tribal Nations, towns, and counties to build and execute robust cradle-to-college-and-career plans to ensure that all young people—no matter who they are or where they come from—can achieve their full potential. The President’s actions today are protecting important public lands, and efforts like Fresh Tracks and Every Kid in a Park will work to ensure that our country’s youth are able to visit and enjoy these types of cultural and natural areas.

Obama's top 10 most r****t policies against white people
Next: Mandatory drug testing for welfare recipients starts next week
February 18, 2016
7:14 PM MST Facebook Twitter More

Despite the widespread public rejection of Obama's r****t Affirmative Action policies, he continues imposing blatantly unfair and unequal policies on every corner of the system that openly discriminate against white people. And he is doing it without Congress, through arbitrary, lawless edicts from on high, and through the vindictive persecution of anyone who stands up for actual e******y.

Obama speaks about race relations while flanked by (L-R), Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, and Rev. Al Sharpton, in the Roosevelt Room at the White House, February 18, 2016 in Washington, DC.

Let's review (as noted by Investor's Business Daily):

10) All FDIC-insured banks have now been ordered to develop hiring policies based heavily on race over qualification, and are being openly pushed to offer better lending terms for minorities "to address past discrimination."

9) HUD is now forcing suburban communities to build more low-income housing and to run ads to attract more poverty-level b****s and Latinos into their neighborhoods.

8) The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is now threatening to prosecute lenders for not making enough bad loans to unqualified people and has launched investigations into every major credit reporting agency for "racial bias."

7) New rules have now been imposed that subject housing lenders to lawsuits if "too many" of their black or Latino customers get rejected for bad credit or criminal backgrounds.

6) The lending industry has now been brow-beaten into opening up banks in terrible neighborhoods and putting aside hundreds of millions of dollars for handouts to future "victims of credit discrimination."

5) Any bank that turns down any minority student or small business owner for a loan or charges them higher rates for having worse credit or criminal backgrounds is now being strong-armed into lowering their standards.

4) The Department of Education is now threatening schools with cuts in federal funding if they do not implement special disciplinary policies for black students that allow them to get away with more misconduct (seriously).

3) The EEOC and Labor Department have now warned employers and federal contractors to hire more minorities and not to hire people based on whether or not they are convicted felons, because this could discriminate against black people (seriously).

2) Common Core standards are now being drafted that ban ability grouping and fast-tracking for gifted students, because they disproportionately benefit white people, and high schools are being stopped from using exams that "too many" black students cannot pass.

1) The amnesty bill recently approved in the Senate exempts employers from huge health care costs for hiring i*****l i*******ts who have been rewarded for breaking into our country, while leaving those costs in place for law-abiding citizens, thereby creating a strong incentive to fire Americans and replace them with foreign criminals.

Never mind the fact that these are exactly the kind of PC, race-baiting Democrat policies that destroyed the economy in the first place and propelled l*****t radicals into office...just so they could turn around and reinstate them, under the hilariously fraudulent guise of "rescuing" us from "the failed policies of the past."

Bottom line: Obama will continue to fight imaginary r****m with actual r****m and Special Olympics standards for minorities until there is nothing left to steal from the rest of the country, and until white people are second-class citizens entrenched in just as much poverty, dependence, and failure as the paranoid bigots and professional victims applauding this insanity.

Since 2013 Hillary’s grand total is slightly less: $21.7 million for 92 private appearances.

Below we present the full breakdown of every publicly disclosed speech event by Hillary Clinton, together with the associated fee.

And as The Mises Institute’s William Andersen so eloquently summarised,

Despite Clinton’s newfound populist rhetoric, her economic agenda reflects her own lifestyle of practicing crony capitalism. Other than her promise to remove “red tape” for small business startups, Clinton’s economic propositions follow the same depressing line that we have seen from Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren: private enterprise extracts wealth from the economy, while the expansion of government power builds wealth and employment opportunities.
