That was a quote from Mark Twain.
Would you care to address the original point?
I have read a lot of Twain but did not recognize the quote. He was a very smart and amusinbg man.

Your original point was so silly that I didn't believe you were serious. There is nothing there worth addressing.
Anyway, I must take my dog to the vet now, so we can chat later. I have found an amusing issue that both liberals and conservatives can agree upon. Will post info about it later. It is a real mind-boggler.

I agree. He had a way of making a point and making people laugh at the same time.

Yes, silliness was the point. It is no more silly than the idea of a gun-free zone, though.
I agree with you. Having a gun free zone may increase the penalties on those who break the law that applies to that area, but does this really deter anyone ? I don't think so.

What will be the penalty assessed to the Newtown shooter? I ask that because that law sure didn't stop him but it certainly gave him a handy way to get around being shot by somebody in the middle of his work. I am not sure that all of that wasn't a part of his suicide plans. Are you?
I have no information on which to base an answer.

I would say that if Connecticut has a penalty for murder or mass murder they didn't get to even have a trial. The slob k**led himself. You knew that, didn't you?
I told you I had no information on which to base my answer. I failed to connect the guy's actual name with the incident. I was only concerned with what happened to the children and their teachers, not with the details about the guy who k**led them. Sorry about that.

Please be advised that I served 30 years in the Marine Corps. I retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant with a primary MOS of 0311 (infantry). My second MOS was 0372 (Force Recon) and third MOS of of 8541 (scout sniper). I served 3 combat tours in Vietnam and was wounded 5-20-69. I also served in Somalia and Iraq, again wounded.
Allow me to add some perspective to you comment: I would never, nor would I EVER order a United States Marine to fire on U.S. citizens NO MATTER WHO gave me the order regardless of the consequences to myself.
Hope this helps.
I think most ex-military would feel the same way. However, I think there are some who WOULD fire on fellow citizens.

I think that if Obama or any other administration decided to use military forces against the American people, they would use UN troops or possibly "brownshirts" in the form of Homeland Security, not US military troops.
