Violence in media, marketing, shows and games is just the human condition, nature itself is pinned in violence to survive, asking the world to be nonviolent is like asking conflict to be non-existent, it is the equivalent of friction, and could we do anything without conflicting powers fighting against each other? One devours the other, the one with the more violence wins. This is nature in its beauty and terror. Today we have crowded lives of other people, violence always waiting to emerge. We consider ourselves to be civilized, yet we cling to the most primitive ways of ensuring dominance, we are entertained by violence, it is in our nature, it is nature, we are created by nature, and thus we are beings of the primitive violence, it amuses us. Today we are not accustoming to first hand violence, so the brain compensates so we don’t go mad where madness is due. Violence sells, we know this, but not many know why, that is why, it is nature, we will always be a part of nature no matter how much we destroy it to make room for condominiums and “civilized” housing and office buildings. Violent video games and shows are just the release of the human brain of all violent ideas that are in us, an artificial alternative if you will.

I think that there has to be a higher intelligence that created the complexities you describe.

If you saw a building or a car, or a house, would you put forth the theory that the building or car or house occurred naturally? No! you would say that the building or car or house are evidence that there is a higher intelligence somewhere nearby that created those items.

Therefore, if you are absolutely sure that an intelligence created an automobile, and it didn't just generate itself by natural means, you should also be sure that something as complicated as a living organism must also have been created by an intelligence. It could not have occurred by accident, just by natural means any more than a car could happen that way.

In fact, a car is infinitely less complex than even the simplest living organism.

I think you are treading deep water. Yes, violence is a part of nature, but man's violence is almost without exception designed to have "fun" with. There are exceptions, to be sure, but not enough to equalize other animals with human re types of violent behavior.

I don't think humans are naturally violent, naturally mean, naturally selfish. I happen to believe that they must be taught to be cruel, mean, violent - there are plenty who are happy to do the teaching.

The violent young black gangs attacking w****s? They weren't born to k**l w****s, and they gain NOTHING but notoriety from it. They are, however, taught daily by people of some degree of substance that the white man is to be h**ed.

Children k*****g teachers? If your mind was as messed with as children's minds are today, you may k**l a few teachers also. Thanks to the media, news reports, and politicians, teachers, and some parents, children get horrendously mixed messages about life. As a society we should be ashamed of what our institutions are doing to our young. They are being taught all the wrong things. A few slip through the cracks, thank God, and can mentally override the silliness they are taught about things like "guns k**l people", about "g****l w*****g", etc. Teachers are messing with their g****r identity and putting doubts in their minds that, if left alone, would grow up in all probability happy and successful. They are taught that right is wrong, that bad is good, that real is make believe, etc. This is insanity, and I maintain that most of humanity of today IS IN FACT INSANE, qualifiably admitable to an insane asylum. About half are insane in a violent sense and require that the world's population admit to being controlled - the other half are those being controlled.

When I was growing up, gun violence in schools was unheard of. Hitting a teacher was unheard of. Pregnant children was unheard of. Dissing the American f**g was unheard of. Getting out of school without knowing how to read and write and add and subtract were unheard of. As the movie character would say, schools cannot piss down my leg and convince me it is raining. And no one can convince me that a normal child goes home, gets a gun, returns to school and k**ls as many as he can. We have a problem, and it isn't movies and TV portrayal of violence - it is the GENERAL ACCEPTANCE THAT VIOLENCE IS THE WAY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.

Humans ARE genetically programed for violence, selfishness etc. Call it original sin if you like. Violence sells because, deep down, we wish it were ourselves committing the mayhem. Women are less attracted as a whole but are not immune.

There are dark days ahead as the world's population races towards the eight billion mark. In case you haven't noticed,
Nature seems to be taking deliberate steps aimed at drastically reducing our numbers. Here are a few:

1. The creation of super germs that are both lethal and resistant to any known antidote. These new germs (some created in hospitals) are the result of man's attempts to eliminate things like infections.
2. Fatal diseases that were exclusive to non-humans (think of birds and monkeys) have recently evolved to infect us. I heard of one such case diagnosed in China just yesterday.
3. Every day the world is filthier than it was the day before. This gives Nature the perfect environment to create new diseases. Remember Legionnaires Disease from the mid 70's?

Throw in nuclear proliferation, shrinking resources, hungry billions and religious fanaticism and we might beat Mother Nature to the punch by destroying ourselves before she does.

The solution to the above scenarios, as I see it, would require draconian measures that are too terrible to mention.

In my area and perhaps others in the country, there seems to be gravitation towards opening brewerys. What we don't have enough already? What is it about alcoholic beverages that people are so driven to consume them? I read in the paper every morning about crimes committed by someone who has had too much to drink. Domestic violence caused by one or both parties involved having had too much to drink. Children abused by a parent under the influence. It seems there are those who get so antsy at quitting time at work that they can't wait to hit a bar. Just in my area there seems to be an increasing number of all types of violence committed by someone who has had too much alcohol. Drugs also is a problem. What is wrong with our society that makes someone want to get stoned either on alcohol or drugs? Stress? On any given evening you can drive by a bar or a lounge and see people who stagger to their cars to head for another. Are they so desparate that they need to get high and then put others at risk by driving on public roads? I have had some stress that only can be had when serving in the military, but never felt that alcohol or drugs would ease stress...or pain...or make a bad situation better. Why won't our government tax alcoholic beverages out of existance ( not prohibition as they tried that once) like they are trying to do with cigarettes. And since some States are making certain drugs legal, tax drugs also. There is so much more to this problem...but I need a drink.

These thioughts are mine also. But I blame parents the most...they are the steering wheel if you will...to keep a child on the right path. And it takes TWO parents...with LOVE for each other and their off spring. There is too little of that in our society today. Discipline is a must also.

well Neanderthals did have an extremely higher pain and stress tolerance than normal homo sapiens sapiens, it is believed they died out do to their bulky bone structure that hindered their speed and endurance, that and our first ancestors apparently helped k**led them off. nature will eventually humble us, it is only a mater of when the time comes when our own stupidity and the wrath of god gets to us. all species bow to nature, they either evolve and survive, or go extinct due to trying to be stubborn with nature. we are being stubborn.
I ask you this:
where will our political power, economic wealth, or our grand technologically advanced military and top of the line modern technology be when s**t hits the fan? when the freshwater glaciers melt into salt water ocean, contaminating the contents of the sea causing global freezing? when the next little ice age hits? remember the 16-1700s? that was the little ice age right there. a huge amount of the human population died due to their stubbornness of not planting cold enduring crops.
these days you may hear politicians scream and blabber in f**ed panic about c*****e c****e, not knowing what the god honest fuck it is. it is real, and it is eating at us, there will be another little ice age, this time, people may be smart enough to adapt more than last time, but our own ignorance will find us. we are the ones that will cause this little ice age, our waste output is enormous, it wont take a volcano eruption to put us into another little ice age. last time it took only 1 decade to put us into an ice age climate, imagine what could happen now with all the green house gasses we are emitting!
