No the better time is when your children have children.

You get to watch the grand kids & great grand kids grow.

The time when they listened to a few words from you that they follow.

A little of the right sort of words taken to heart and becoming supportive adults.

Being there to ease some of the trials of aging.

I have said I have 7 children a favorite for each day of the week.

Once & only once can you really ask. I ask each of my first 5 children who they thought my favorite was.
They all said they thought they were. At that point you stop & say you are not doing such a bad job as a parent.

There were two born some what later & they have gotten more attention than the others.
May be it was in the hope of them catching up with the others.

Raising children is a full time adventure & the pay off is them becoming loving adults.

Thanks for reminding me!

Ain't that the t***h!!! Happy Father's Day, Dave, and also to all the other dads on OPP and in the world.
****************************

Let us praise those fathers who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice. Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, have worked to become a good father.

Let us praise those fathers who by their own account were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support. Let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by the neglect and hostility of their children.

Let us praise those fathers who, despite divorce, have remained in their children's lives. Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has offered healing.

Let us praise those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned their step children's love and respect. Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death, and continue to hold the child in their heart.

Let us praise those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation as if they were their own.

Let us praise those men who have "fathered" us in their role as mentors and guides.

Let us praise those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children.

And let us praise those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us.

Okay WTF is WFOC?

Coming from you it could only mean some thing good.

I like to think that I have a good feel for what is going on around me.
But at times it seems I am a little late to the party.

Worried For Our Children

I have 7 Adult children & while I think I lacked the time to worry. Raising them I did the best I could do.

So I think the issue was more hoping that I was doing all I could rather than worrying.

Caring, hoping & worrying are almost interchangeable in that sense but worrying is almost a waste of time

One hopes they do their best & leaves the children able to do their best.

Maybe that is picking a straws but if you have children you need to give the task your best attention.

Now as they are in their middle years I can look back & say I did not waste my time & effort.
They are all able to fend for them self quite well.

I agree with you that they're almost interchangeable. And I understand what you're saying about, worrying almost being a waste of time. I just view worrying as a natural thing happening at the very moment your wife tells you she's with child, until the day you die. Such as, making sure mom is getting proper nutrition during pregnancy, keeping an eye on them as toddlers while they're playing at the park, watching out for trouble, all the way through their lives really. I understand wh**ever is going to happen will happen, but worrying helps to minimize the potential bad things that may come down the road.

I totally agree. 👍

And congratulations, sounds like you did a fantastic job. 👍

I have 3 children. 22, 6, and 4. I was a single father to my oldest since she was three years old, she's finishing up college, has a great job that she loves, and has her own apartment, a very independent young woman, I couldn't be more proud of her. I worried a lot while she was growing up, not just about her, but about myself and whether or not I was making the right decisions for us. I made some mistakes but all in all, we did okay. Glad I have a fantastic mom for my two little ones, it's nice to have some help.

Hope you had a great Father's Day, Floyd. I'm off to take my youngest to the park. 👍👍👍😁😁
