Do you feel Disney World should assume any responsibility or liability for the death of the little boy who was eaten by an alligator at their theme park?

There were signs for no swimming, but no signs about alligators. When you charge someone to stay with you, you should bear the burben of keeping them safe............in this case they didn't! Watching Fireworks along the shore is not swimming. If it had been my child, I would have grabbed the gator by the tail and followed him down.

I feel sad for the child and his family. I think that they are liable and fully responsible for the boy's death. By the way the alligator k**led the child but DID NOT EAT THE BODY. It helps if you get your facts straight when asking for comments.

They almost certainly will, but I don't know if they should, or if so, how much.

Disney has been trying, I believe quite responsibly, to be as nature-friendly as possible while developing huge areas of an ecosystem.

Nature can be deadly. If you don't wipe out all alligators, someone will eventually be k**led by one.

As cruel as it sounds, sometimes s**t happens.

I've not read a lot about it hence don't know all the facts, but......if Disney had no warnings and no protections against alligators, Disney is legally responsible, without question in my view. I feel additionally that the parents are responsible to a large degree. Two year olds should be watched closely, particularly in public places. Had the child been mine, it would not have been alone close to water such as this one was.

Super Dave... You're saying Disney is NOT responsible for the death of the child because they're "... trying, I believe quite responsibly, to be as nature-friendly as possible while developing huge areas of an ecosystem..." is ABSURD...

When someone goes into a wild animal's (like a wild alligator's) Natural Habitat it's OBVIOUS "... someone will eventually be k**led by one..."
But when Disney takes a wild animal (like a wild alligator) and puts it "on display" for the General Public to see... the BURDEN OF SAFETY FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC FALLS ON DISNEY...

This has NOTHING to do with ANIMAL PRESERVATION and ECOSYSTEMS... This has EVERYTHING to do with ENDANGERING INVITED LIVES...

And a parent who takes a 2 year old into such a place and allows him to wander over to a pond of water is NOT AS responsible as Disney???

No. That wasn't what I said. Read my post to see what I said.

1. I didn't say they were NOT responsible.

2. I didn't give a reason why.

After you read my post, you'll understand what I said.

If you really think Disney ENDANGERED INVITED LIVES then why did it take them 42 years to finally k**l someone with an alligator? Maybe it took so long because Disney has removed many alligators away from the INVITED LIVES?

I understood the child was with the father wading in the water.

I allowed my child to wade in water many times.

He wasn't 'EATEN' by the 'gator, he was drowned and left at the bottom of the lake by the 'gator. Gators do not, as a general rule, eat fresh k**ls. The like them to become rotten before eating.

As I said, I am not familiar with the case....know it happened, but have no real details. Yes, I'd let a child wade in water were I accompanying him at his age 2 stage, but only if the water was clear, sanitary, and if I KNEW it didn't contain creatures that could k**l a child.

The little boy was NOT eaten by that gator. And the answer to your question is, Yes, Disney should be held responsible.
