Who will stop it, if the voters, you know-us, aren't given a viable choice. Too many governments, and corporations have always benefitted by war. Win or lose, it is always promotes more war. The president just gets in the way or is collateral damage.
The young men and women of our military forces will have a huge part to play. I've spoken to many vets of the ongoing desert-wars who believe they have been used and abused for the sake of elitist power-games and geo-political hegemony, and no longer believe that our wars-of-aggression are necessary or just. Once a large enough number of them open their eyes and refuse to volunteer and fight these wars-for-profit, things will begin to change. It is no accident that much pro-active recruitment today goes on in blighted rural and urban communities, where there is little educational or job oppurtunities for young people. Recruitment officers lure them with false promises, but in reality they are guaranteed nothing.
