Every time I hear something like this one I think about those poor slobs in Vietnam in 1955 who weren't even armed but supposed to be giving advice. Finally they were allowed to carry sidearms to protect themselves when needed. Our President then was nearly as without understanding as the one we have now. He just isn't going to say those guys in Iraq are in combat. How does he think he can keep this up?

My BN XO at the 1/10 inf. stationed at Ft. Carson while I was there was in the RVN in the 50's. Was armed, and k**led a VC in hand to hand with his issue bayonet...the attack was started too close and too quickly for him to have the chance to engage with his sidearm..He did note that the RVN soldiers made no attempt to help him out, they simply stood and watched......

This is just why I can't see any way that we send our people to advise but not fight. Those 250 Green Berets that Obama sent of Syria will have to be allowed to fight or they will essentially be picked off one at a time. Our Glorious Leader doesn't know a lot about fighting and like all those before him is making that fool mistake.

It's not a mistake. He knows exactly what he's doing. Everything he does, he does to weaken America.

Sure. What we need is about 45,000 soldiers with full support, SP Howitzers, mortars, air power, armored personnel carriers, plenty of M-2 .50 BMG teams, sniper teams to k**l the ISIS leadership, hand held missile launchers, and so on. The air power to destroy every single tracked or wheeled vehicle within enemy territory. The oil refineries and well heads within enemy territory needs to be under our control. Their cash and ability to use banking facilities must be completely stopped, cash confiscated. ANY person in enemy territory carrying any arms exceeding a 9mm pistol must surrender or be shot. These need to be fighters trained to the level of the US Armed forces, and as willing to fight. All of which means that the USA and Europe will be deeply involved and lies will be lost. It comes down to fight them there or fight them here. Possibly we should re purpose NATO. War there is better than war here.

I was in Vietnam,in 1956,I was issued a Browning 9mm pistol,and a small 25 browning pistol in a piggy back holster, by the American Embassy.

You guys do know that we have approx. 4500 men in Iraq....

In the well reported death you speak of, the insurgents drove about 2 miles through the Iraq troops, were engaged by the US troops. Reportedly, all of the enemy were k**led by the US force. The young man k**led was the only US casualty..

The increase in troop strength is slow but ongoing and not as Obama policy of no troops on ground...

The .25 was to irritate the person you shot. You'd have been better served with a .22 Hornet semi auto. Hell, a .22 LR at close range will penetrate the side of a 55 gal steel drum, a .25 dents it......
