Life as a Marine is a dream come true.
Eat your heart out, Water Lily.
That "dream" depends on the circumstances. I was instructing a new Ensign on how to deal with some smartass Sailors in his section and told him he needed to take his skirt off and put on pants ( yeah, I was being a smartass too, but rank does have it's privileges ). He got really angry and said "you should have been a Marine!" and was totally mystified when I told him that was the nicest thing an officer ever said to me.
On the other hand, watching Marines humping 60 lb. packs in 100 degree heat - from inside my air conditioned Jeep with my gear - made me appreciative of being a Corpsman.
Here's one of my sayings used during training: When life gives you lemons, find a Marine and give them to him - he'll bring you a glass of ice cold lemonade during the day and a tart, eye watering glass of hooch after dark.
