personally I am disapointed in this site for the same reasons I am disapointed in OWS and the Tea Party. All had lofty goals but quickly became echo chambers of people whining about real or more often the case, perceived, wrongs.

Yes I said OWS and Tea Party in the same sentence.
We need to stop letting outselves be corralled into left and right feeding pens.
I have "progressive" beliefs about human rights and ecology. But I am fiscally conservative and I think legislators should be conservative about the number of bills they pass. A new law or amendment should be the last possible resort after every other option has been exercised. So I suppose you could say that I am for small government as well.
However I find NEITHER party has a home for folks like me.
The Republicans have a lot of rhetoric about "fiscal sanity" but they are as bad as the Democrats for actual spending. The two only differ on WHAT to spend on, not the amounts.

The Democrats are hardly the party of "the people". When their liberal mavens are Bloomberg and Soros, multibillionaire wall st investors.

Where is the fiscal sanity party that is not radical right, or the progressive party that is not just a farce for billionaires.

Ahhhh, the sounds of a moderate....in other words, a fence sitter. Stick your finger up in the air and go with the wind. No core values or principles...definition of a moderate.

Please identify for me the prominent heroes, great political leaders, etc of this country that were moderates. Thank you.

I think I know what you are talking about and I often wonder the same thing. The question is: exactly WHAT to do?
1. The people cannot win a war against this government. It has weapons we do not have access to.
2. The b****t box is terminally c*********d, and factually worthless.
3. For a representative country, we are astoundingly non-represented, and I see little change coming there.
4. Because we have a "President" who thinks he is God, he wants the US Constitution GONE, and is working constantly to accomplish that little bit of housecleaning.
5. Ahhhh......the courts. Uh, no. The courts are as corrupted and staffed with socialists that there is no hope there.
6. The Supreme Court? Nope, no help. It is filled with left wingers, wimps, and battle-axes.
7. So much of our population has been deliberately dumbed down and brainwashed that we cannot expect any help there to restore our once great nation. They simply do as they are programmed to do, and don't know when they have it good or when they have it bad.

So while many of us agree that SOMETHING must be done, the question of "what?" prevents us from doing much of anything.

If just one year, all good Americans refused to file an income tax report, it might be a good thing. Could they arrest all of us? I suppose they COULD, as they have the FEMA camps ready for occupation. They would fine us. If we didn't pay the fines, they may confiscate our homes and property. Would people sit still for that? Have we discussed just who this country belongs to - the citizens or the "government officials"? What would happen if we just all got together, formed our own government and told this current one to "get lost"? Actually that is what I would like to do.

I think I will not file income taxes this year. I am 75, don't have much they could confiscate or that would affect me for decades as it would younger people. If they arrest me, they'll have to feed and cloth me and house me.

Back when I was a trucker across this great nation I would constantly hear grips and complaints from other truckers about the problems of professional drivers. I said if the truckers all shut down for just one week and refused to roll until we got what we wanted we would get it. In a few days the grocery shelves would be empty. Material supply depleted for building any kind of structure. Ect ect ect. After all everything is moved by trucks. But as it was pointed out, there would always be some one jumping in to take the wheel, drive and complain, and it would never get done.

By the way, I never heard how the truckers did on the beltway. Must have been a flop.

The same with income taxes. You will never get enough brave soles to refuse to pay taxes to make a difference. The few of us that try it will end up in jail or lose everything. I am sure they would kick out some rapist or murderer to make room for those tax evaders.

One thing to think about how ever is it is our kin folk that are in the military. Sure they would probably send the blue helmets over to spank our butts, but surely some of our kin would figure away to get some juicy arms to our side.

I know you are right - there will ALWAYS be people who will throw a wrench into the works and hurt the ones "doing something". Last year I kept suggesting that all of us not pay taxes, and was attacked as much by the conservative crowd as by the progressive crowd. So, as I have done all my life, I wasted my dollars as well, funding a government filled with irresponsible, incredibly corrupt and foul officials who threw my money around like it was nothing. It would have been nice to put that money on a new car for my stepson who needs one for his work.

One of the most well written, well thought out statements I have ever read on a blog. Do we really have to be in our 70's to have it figured out? Perhaps......most of the younger bunch are too busy getting their "freebies" to understand.

You and I won't see the revolution, but if the Obamites continue to hold the reins of power, and well they might, it will happen. Well done Tasine!

Google italic phrases.
It's already happening. Gold prices are not going up in many other currencies (which are not pegged to the dollar.? Wonder why? Cause the US Dollar is being devalued at an alarming rate.

We've already gone over the fiscal cliff, it is not just the 17 trillion debt, it is the other 124 trillion in Unfunded Liabilities. Total those two together and you will see the math. There is no economic model that we can come out of this. It is already happening.

this is exactly why the fed keeps pumping the market up and when they are ready they are going to suddenly stop and it's going to collapse

Some things for all to think about.

Obama is really Barry Soretoro of Indonesia. This is Proven. Barry Soretoro has 3 Social Security #'s out of Canada. Michelle Obama would be in jail for fraud if the t***h were exposed. Congress created $5 TRILLION in new debt to appease the Anointed One. All that stimulus money could have paid off all mortgages below $150,000 and given everyone who is a US Citizen (Citizen of the corporation known as UNITED STATES INCORPORATED) A shareholder bonus of $1.6 million each.

The UNITED STATES INCORPORATED is worth about $110 TRILLION and is far from broke contrary to what you've been told. There is more than enough money to go around if piss-pot politicians would be put in jail for fraud and treason - like they should. Check Nancy Pelosi's and Harry Reid's portfolios. I would just bet that there is a real and valid reason they fought so hard to keep the ACA (ObamaCare) from being struck down. My assertion is all those in congress who want ObamaCare so badly have huge investments in the companies who stand to profit the most. Follow the money trail. Has and always will lead you to the core cause of corruption in "government".

I think taking up arms may be a bit premature at this point  but yes on doing something about it. I know so many people who gripe, complain, and piss and moan about how wrong things are but then- they do not get off their arse's and v**e! It is maddening! We need this whole administration gone, not just Obama. We need these 20, 30, 40 + year career politicians out, Dingle has been sitting there for well over 50 years! By doing something about it, I mean wake up and smell the coffee America, how many times do you have to be lied too before you see that this administration is ruining our country.
