The thicker skin may encompass not debating or defending belief. It is called "faith" for a reason and the "wisdom" has taught you cannot do more then have "faith".

If you go back to your comment about v****g the party line, although I think that is the answer, it is not at the moment, and to make that more clear.
Samuel L Jackson said about v****g for Obama, I v**ed for him because he was black. There is so much more we are fighting than we can imagine, someone is a democrat or a republican because they like the song the clown is singing at the time, on top of people v****g because of the color of a mans skin?
Talking about this like we are is the fight, and until it is daily conversation that Washington is corrupt, and why people are so dead set on one side, that one has always confused me, we aren't going to far. It is really a waiting game now, the system has not stopped failing yet, and the only reason it worked this long was because everyone was working, without the workers it proves what a corrupt system we have and it's only going to get worse.

That, my friend, is the message we must try to send the Republicans before the e******n in 2014. If they refuse to listen then our next option is the e******n itself. What I will do is this: If the candidate in my district doesn't pass my smell test I'll v**e for a third party candidate if that candidate does. If all the candidates stink I'll v**e on initiatives or propositions but I won't v**e for anyone because he's marginally less foul than his opponent. If enough people who care about the direction our nation is taking do that the Republicans might get the message that we're not going to put up with more business as usual. they might actually begin vetting candidates who we can get behind. I know its a long shot but if we keep on the way we are its only going to get worse.

I am tired and not communicating well. The "thicker skin" does have "more to do with not feeling the need" to reply in kind, because they are so use to being denigrated as "Bible thumpers", home schooled creationist" and other such "rhetoric". What the denigrators cannot see is it is a strength based on down to the bone faith. Our "progressive" group go on "what feels good" but only "what feels good" at the immediate moment on a particular issue. It has no true depth.
