My cousin was an over the road truck driver and his broker kept him on the road all the time .

Two sets of books and times when he came in home he was like a zombie so I'd let him drive one of my tractors and let him unwind .

Lots of times he would call me and talk suicide and we'd talk for quite a while sometimes and he'd say thanks he was feeling better and this went on for quite a while .

One day I stopped at my folks house and Mom said get down to Joyce's house Bradley was talking suicide so I started down the lane and then say the ambulance coming .

When I got there he was in the back of the shed he had put 44 mag behind his left ear.

As I talked to the State Trooper investigating and I told him how I had talked him out of it many times but this time I was 15 mins too late he said could be a good thing you didn't make it because sometimes the k**l the one that has helped them and then do themselves in !

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem !

The family are the one's it really hurts the most !

Suicide is the act of a coward. It is also an act of selfishness. Everyone has problems. Some more than others. The ones who have courage cope with them.

That's cold. Alleging cowardice and selfishness is a bit shallow and even a knee jerk response to a complex issue.

Depression
Hopelessness,
Loneliness,
Chronic anxiety,
PTSD
Low self esteem,
Psychosis
Alcohol and drug abuse,
Sexual dysfunction or abuse,
A******ns,
Unemployment
Feeling useless,
loss of a loved one (human or pet)
Rejection,
Guilt,

There are many possible things and combinations of things that drives one to end his or her life. Even suicide notes often don't reveal the true motivations.

I lost a friend to suicide, and to this day, no one, not even the woman he loved, knows for sure why he did it. He even left a note and it did nothing to explain it.

I haven't had an easy life. I've been through some really tough times, including an extended period of homelessness. I never once thought of k*****g myself. There are those who have k**led themselves for trivial reasons. There are others who have suffered far worse and never even thought of it. I call it selfish and cowardly because almost everyone who k**ls themselves has someone who cares about them. Do they ever stop and think about how their suicide will affect those who love them? In the end, they k**l themselves because they cannot handle what others have endured.

A Boy Scout troop member of mine k**led himself. He was severely handicapped from birth, but while young, he could keep up with us, if we did not push too hard. As he grew older, his best friend died suddenly of a massive heart failure and a few years later his parents fell into ill health. He weighed the alternatives and decided to die at home before he was a burden his parents could not carry and ended his life in a terminal care facility. Dying while you still have a tiny bit of self left has quite a bit to recommend it. Personally, I would prefer that if the brain's not functioning any more to just have it ended, the vegetative state serves no one and is exceptionally expensive.

That sounds like a valid exception. I can't imagine dying from something like COPD. but overall, someone who is in good health has no excuse for ending it.
