He was law clerk for Chief Justice Rehnquist, arguably the most adamant defender of States' rights in the 20th Century. Rehnquist was no neocon.

A brokered convention in and of itself may not be a bad thing.

Trump doesn't get 50%+1 delegates, by rules it is a certainty.

All that means is that the delegates may be swayed away from their candidate and join another candidate. If Trump is way ahead and can't sway just a few delegates, then his deal-making abilities may be overstated.

Some Trumpsters (and I think Trump) have implied that the RNC should make a special rule so that Trump, unlike any previous candidate, can win without a majority of delegates. If the RNC does that, then the GOP will cease to exist.

If the RNC installs some stupid rule that makes it impossible for Trump to succeed or fail based on his own personal abilities and the way he's run his campaign, then the GOP will cease to exist.

But if the RNC allows Trump, Cruz and Kasich to all try to convince enough delegates to follow him and give him a majority of the delegates, then the winner wins fair and square.

I agree with what you say here but the RNC can also change the rules right up to the Convention, Dave..Now do you think they are going to do anything but make some rules to prohibit Trump from wining?? I mean the delegates do not have to v**e for Trump at all..While true they do not usually sway from the popular v**e, they still can...

The GOP has been imploding for years and anything they do to try and sway it is already fracturing the already broken party..They will be done either way is very true..They would be smarter to go with he or Cruz and play ball in Congress and Senate than risk complete annihilation of the party...NO one knows what the final outcome will be but signs suggest some serious resistance....

I was just going to type something of the same here..Since you did I'll only add that I like Rehnquist very much..Sound reasoning and brilliance that was obvious.

This one t***h : "The only thing the establishment cares about is their own asses." suggests that they won't go too far.

If they were to do something overly underhanded, they'd not just piss Trumpsters off, they'd piss everyone off except the handful of mush-mouthes that v**ed for Jeb. They would be throwing themselves out of power. They would never knowingly do that, and believe me, they know what would happen.

I will support Trump if he is the nominee. I just think Cruz would be better.

I think the same thing.

What most other P**********l runners do not think of, who is behind all the v**es Trump has been able to get? WE THE PEOPLE! Not a GOP party nor a Pizza Party....just WE THE PEOPLE! Like how it was meant to be instead of forcing some schmucks down our throats!

Who is so sure the RNC doesn't want to destroy the Republican Party? It has for been for years.
After all the Democrats are the Zio's first pick. Sold out g*******t Republicans (CFR/NeoCONS)are their alternate choices.
It has served the purpose to have the citizens think the two parties are battling. They are; but only for the spoils of being in office.
Just follow the Big Money, and listen to their liberal MSM Talking Heads.
We have had a CFR/TC run government since Carter on.
What ever changes, other than the speed towards a one world government?
AND; the loss of our liberties.
