There will not be a resolution to this dichotomy until some sort of Guest Worker Program is introduced as part of a comprehensive Immigration Reform bill.

My company in Iowa is switching to Blue Cross/Blue Shield but the Iowa Exchange says it will not allow BCBS. What's that? Also, I am wondering, if anyone knows, if the businesses can wait one year, will the employees be taxed or fined for not carrying a qualifying insurance? Do you have to drop a company unqualified insurance and pick up a private qualified one until your company does adhere?

I'm presently reading "Obama Care Survival Guide". On page 762 they talk about the P**********l Commission, IPAB. That is "Independent Payment Advisory Board". It is a separate program, described as similar to the Fed. Reserve, that is designed to control and eliminate (?) the Medicare program. It will be the controlling factor leaving the government out of harm's way. There are future references in the book on how Medicare will be re-allocated or replaced with other programs that will be tested. I haven't read all of it yet but it is rather interesting and a little alarming.

Apology accepted. But you are speaking to a larger t***h here my friend.
A lot of the wild and wacky stuff that comes from the fringe (right or left)is like political fast food, good tasting if you have a hunger for deep fried facts but in the end lacking in substance. What we need is just the straight facts and a more pragmatic way of looking at reality.

Several of the large insurers are staying out of the pool, probably when the most needy have been insured, they will be offering programs. Your second Question is very good and I have no idea as to the answer..

Comprehensive reform immigration bill. Doesn't that have to have an amnesty attached to be comprehensive?

This may be the website you are talking about but I didn't take the time to look at what they say on any of the websites listed here. Maybe you could do a quick check.

Eden, you may be partially right in your assertion about past immigration, legal immigrants did come here to work at jobs where the companies/farms couldn't find enough American workers. This started when there was essentially low American unemployment and the program has continued to this day, very poorly administered by the government.
When you mix the I*****L i*******ts into this discussion a
different situation is the result. The I*****l w****rs are often abused by the companies under the ever present threat of exposure if they ask for reasonable treatment/wages/living conditions. "We" are abusing these people.
The other part of your comment stated that this had to be part of a "comprehensive" bill, that is the part that I would disagree with.
Now, consider this, we need to enforce/administer the provisions of the existing laws regarding these LEGAL workers when a legitimate need for workers is proven by the individual companies and simultaneously enforce our other i*********n l*ws regarding Illegal "visitors" who come here to stay. We don't really need additional laws to reward these i*****l i*******ts with amnesty/a jump ahead of the persons who have applied to legally come to this country.
I would solve it this way,
1. Implement/enforce the E-verify system (fine companies who don't comply in the effort to identify the i*****l w****rs.) (If persons contemplating coming here illegally understood that they could not get a job because of E-verify use, this would very significantly cut down on the illegal border crossings, maybe even make the fences much less important).
2. The persons identified by this system, if they are working (which is likely because an employer identified them) then give them a work permit visa, (make them legal so the employer has no unreasonable hold on them and overall wages might come up and the jobs become more attractive to American workers just entering the work force).
3. Then allow them, if they wish, to apply for permanent status by using the existing i*********n l*ws; Thus, to be fair, they would have to get in line with the law abiding persons who chose to apply for citizenship before coming here.
We really don't need additional "comprehensive" laws which punish the law abiding immigrants, will simply encourage new waves of i*****l i*********n, and do not solve the basic problems of i*****l i*********n.
"Comprehensive" has simply become a political code word for amnesty for future v**ers.
