A part of the green movement has actually been good. Many of the mandates will not go away, and shouldn't.

The fact that it was done by imperial mandate was bad, but the effect was similar to the way the mob kept crime relatively low in Chicago.

New building codes often require a certain amount of power to be used per square foot for lighting, heating and cooling. These mandates led manufacturers to develop products with increased efficiency, at a great cost to them, which they sent down the line to us.

And because these building had a certain amount of energy to 'spend', it also caused the items within the building to use less energy and expend less heat (especially important in the south).

Now that these high efficiency items have been developed, there will be little or no reason to go back to less efficient models, even if it were legal.

I wonder how many of the good citizens of Chicago would trade the high crime world of Rahm Emanuel to Al Capone's low crime one? Probably more than we think. Many Russians miss the certainty, security, and national power that C*******m gave them in the good old days.

I will argue that the Imperial Mandate came with a cost. That cost was not just in money. It was in lost opportunities and lost jobs. Imposing artificial costs on people and businesses sounds just peachy. Obviously you are just fine with it.

So I tell you to spend way more than you would have on green, shall we say " improvements ". The microscopic problem with that is that it left you with far less money to spend on the other facets of your life, or in the case of American businesses other parts of their enterprises.

During the Green Reign of Terror under Obama the Great we have experienced a low growth, low wage economic recovery.

I submit for your approval that Obama's Green Mandates were one of the many factors in the sub par Obama economy.

Cost, cost, cost matters. I would eliminate every single f**king green regulation our Imperial Ruler imposed on America. Let these new and improved devices compete in the real World. Some will survive. Many won't.

The case I made was limited to some, perhaps many of the product improvements.

The cost of the product improvement was largely R&D. Those dollars are already spent.

Many of these improvements would have eventually happened in a free market, just not as drastically and as quickly. Those innovations are here for good because there is no upside to changing back.

Places where the green movement will die is places where the government is subsidizing products that cannot thrive in the free market. There's plenty of those.

But mostly, the green movement is just a scheme to bring money to Democrats. But I'm preaching to the choir...

If the price of any commodity goes up it depresses demand and eventually the price. The way to raise wages is not to artificially raise the price of labor the way Barry Obama and Bernie Sanders advocate. Heads of households should not be supporting families working at Walmart.

But they are!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because the redistributive policies of Scumocrats depress the economy. The high wage jobs of my young adulthood are few and far between. Corporations take the risk of creating new businesses and high paying jobs because there is profit in it for them.

Under Morons like Barry and Bernie, if they take the risk and put out big bucks and by some miracle are successful, the guvment demonizes them and takes their money and gives it to the OWS brown shirt mob.

The way you raise the wages of wage s***es supporting their families at Walmart is not to go after Walmart. The way you do it is to encourage high wage industries, let them make money, and leave them the hell alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The young adults will then have good options other than Walmart. The best will leave for higher pay elsewhere. Walmart will have to raise the pay of starter and semiretired employees to keep them.

Wal MArt closed mostly smaller units that did not earn enough to make the share holders happy. Being layed off in the middle of the winter sucks so I feel for the 10000 workers. That said I can't stand my local Wal Mart. 30 check stands with five checkers. Nothing in clothing that fits me. Un stocked grocery items that smaller stores always have. Hours long waits for prescriptions. I get my eyeglasses there. They do a good job there. I avoid Wal mart as much as I can. The IGA or Kroegers have my approval

They run out the competition by delivering goods at a lower price than the competition. (Reference: Free Market)

These lower prices means that the consumer gets more for their money, having the same effect as a tax cut to the consumer.

The reason Walmart is not allowed in some communities is that they are the poster child of free market vs forced union shops. Democrat Unions have tried unsuccessfully for years to force Walmart employees into a union and have failed every time.

Democrats get a cut off the top of forced union dues, and you never want to get between a Democrat and his payoff. That is the reason Walmart is outlawed in some cities, which not coincidentally are always Democrat run cities.
