Oh, IDK. Why do you think that gear belonged there in the first place? And it worked better than ever. Besides, no one else could figure out where the damn thing went. We even took it apart and put it back together again, with our Senior Chief looking over our shoulders. No luck.

Like I said. The thing worked like a charm. This was a system from WWII. They liked to over engineer those things. I'll reserve judgement on the firing pin, having never tried it. :mrgreen:

well Lbh
those of us who fired guns in WWII
really wanted those who worked on our fire arms
to be meticulous and please not leave any parts out
dont think any gunners mate left out a part of my gun
or I may not have been here
I co-operated quad forty millimeters

Like I said, our Senior Chief couldn't figure it out either. No one seemed to know where that gear went. I assure you, if the system didn't work without it, we would have tagged it out until we could figure it out. But it worked flawlessly.
