Don't you dare to try to shut down that memorial, again.

I may be nearly as old as those old boys who had to force their way into that memorial but I would surely like to be among those who come to DC to protest another attempt by our community activist to do so.

Isn't that something? He tried to shut down the WW II memorial and some Congressers blew it open and in went the old men.
Then the next day they tried it again and the same result came. Once he shuts down we oldsters SS money he may find that there are more of us than he ever thought. He may make that threat but he can't carry it out.

I am in no questioning your statement, but how can the US Government shutdown memorials in a foreign country? They do not own the land do they?

I don't think they have tried that, only the one in DC but it is that one that they aren't going to shut down without wishing they hadn't. Mark Levin told them today that he would bring an army of 500,000 to DC in protest of another attempt. I have signed up to be one of them although I may be too old.

You may not have to worry about attending. Consider how many retired military personnel, Rolling Thunder, etc there are within the DC, DE, MD, NC and VA areas. You could probably include PA.

They have also barricaded Mt. Vernon, which is privately owned, and receives no money from the federal government. Over stepping their authority a little bit?

I don't know about the ages of all those people you mention. It is we of the far advanced age that are taking offense to things like this.

They may own that one but most of the bodies buried there served in the military at or time or another and Obama and some of his people have never been close to serving. Yes, I think that people think of that one a bit different than just a national park. Thanks for bringing up one of your parks.

There are things to be taken into consideration relative to choosing what to shut down and, possibly, why.

It is no longer high tourist season in DC. With such in mind, it was probably decided the WWII Memorial would have less visitors, hence symbolic of the adverse effects of the shutdown. Very bad decision making there. Arlington National Cemetery has daily and almost hourly funerals/burials. There was no chance they would want the kind of severe negative publicity of such. You notice, the Tomb of The Unknown is still open. Arlington Cemetery is probably one of the most sacred places in this nation. Only an i***t would utilize that as a point maker. Many things is the President, but a total i***t he is not. You did notice The Wall has not been closed. In that instance, it became an age decision. As opposed to the WWII Veterans, they felt that age group would react vehemently. They simply did not foresee the octogenarians committing an act of civil disobedience nor the reaction it would receive.

My thought, for what they may be worth.

There are many veterans of your age in the states I listed, in fact, quite a number.

I don't think those old poops were going to do anything till some Congress men and women were called in. Bachmann was one of them on the first day and she said one of the others brought some scissors and he was the one who cut the yellow band. Today I heard another one talking about being there every day to make sure they didn't try that again.

I don't think good orders were given to the park service and they just did what it looked like. Obama is not an i***t but some of his people have pulled things like that before. Now I don't see them managing to walk that one back.
