You do understand that the congress is responsible for spending and the budget and if the US doesn't have enough money to pay for Obamacare are you going to fund it yourself! If it is the law and we can't find any money to pay for it then congress has an obligation to defund it!

It is a difficult concept, a law is passed, signed, upheld by the SC...But by god we don`t like it. Must be a violation of the constitution somehow.. No, well we will take the money and go home..The pity is the ACA will get started even without immediate funding. Changes are possible by the legislative process but they seem to not want to do that..Obstructionist must be the correct term for them, no solutions only impediment.

Exactly where in the US Constitution does it say that the federal government has the authorization to tell individuals and businesses what and how our health care will be? Do you believe the US Constitution implies that the US Congress can meddle in every, and I emphasize EVERY, aspect of our lives? Does the Constitution state anywhere within it that your property can be confiscated by the government in order to give it to someone who has less than you?

For months now it has been the avowed strategy of the House Republicans to threaten a shutdown of the government. Then they followed through.

The mental gymnastics that they are employing to blame the other side for their actions are truly amazing....and Orwellian.

It wouldn't seem so amazing to you if you paid any attention to what the opposition has been doing for the past 50 years or so.

Does anyone remember how this started? Closed doors. Secret composition of the bill with only ignorant, unqualified people writing the bill. Special deals given to senators to persuade them to v**e in favor of the bill. Pelosi urging a v**e, we can read it later and find out whats in it. I urge all to stick to defunding or delaying. what is occurring from our king or what ever he thinks he is and let wh**ever happen. I have my gun and bible and am ready.

What opposition? I'm old enough and have paid enough attention over the past four decades to know that both parties share in the current mess that is our federal gov't.

What I wrote about the Orwellian rhetoric I'm hearing now stands on it's own merits. The only honest rhetoric I'm hearing is from the TEA parties. At least they have the courage of their convictions. The rest of the Republicans are tying themselves into verbal knots trying to blame the other side for something they'd promised to do for months now.

The republicans have not shut down the government They just refuse to go father in debt for a program that this country can't afford! The democrats are the ones who have shut down the government because they don't care about this country or its citizens.

Mental gymnastics again.
Boehner has already said the debt ceiling will be raised.

The Republicans haven't shut down the government. Obama and the Senate have shut down the government - and I say "GOOD! HOPE IT STAYS SHUT".

You are mistaken. It has been the stated strategy of the Republicans to shut down the government if they cannot defund the ACA. And that's what they did.

I do, however, appreciate your consistency in saying that it's a good thing. I would think conservatives would be happy that they have succeeded.

Surely you know that the only time we are safe is when the government is not in session?

I do not fear our gov't on principle. I understand and appreciate that the founders set up a limited role for the gov't, but also think the gov't is our (the people's) representative and that we can collectively agree on things that might be difficult to accomplish individually.

That being said....the state of our gov't in this day and age does let me sympathize with your point of view to some extent.

The Tea Party is at fault. They have held the Republicans and America hostage.

It is the TEA PARTY who attached undermining the law of the land to a funding bill.

It is the TEA PARTY who rejected 18 attempts by dems to come to an agreement BEFORE this debacle.

It is amazing how a small group of people, representing only 18 percent of America can destroy the most powerful country in the world....

There is no tea party, only a small but growing number of elected reps. who understand the founding principles of America and what they mean. The American federal government is corrupt and has been corrupt for so long it no longer understands or thinks that it is corrupt. This will be a long and tiring endeavor.

Obama and his cronies are on the march again to blame the Republicans for everything from the shutdown to the itch on their backsides. For two days prior to the shutdown the House Republicans were in session trying to figure out a way to stop it, where were the democrats? No where to be seen, they simply did not show up.
The republicans fought to fund the government to avoid a shutdown while the dems preferred to fund Obamacare, but the shut down is republicans fault. You would have to have a very warped sense of reality to see this as the Republicans fault.

Plain and simple though, Obama is the president of the country. The burden of fault ultimately falls on his shoulders. If you are a CEO of a company that fails, your share holders are going to hold you responsible. The same applies with the president. The government essentially failed and Obama is the CEO, we are the share holders. There is only one person to blame here, and that is the leader.
Obama and his cronies are on the march again to bl... (show quote)

I have a cousin who's a Democrat who talked that was when President Bush was in office, but he is quiet about such things now. The buck stops with the President was his opinion then no matter who in the Executive Branch did something, including low ranking military people.
