The Parents who drugged us!!!
At my 50th high school reunion a friend asked me, 'Why didn't we have a drug problem when we were growing up?'
I replied that I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning.
I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie,
brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the pastor, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom or grandma's garden and flower beds.
I was drug to the homes of neighbors to help mow the yard, repair the clothesline, and if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, my dad would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, the USA would be a better place.
God bless the parents who drugged us.

Me too. My dad had a little friend he named BIG MAC. It was an inch thick, about two feet long, with a handle and had a bunch of holes drilled through it. He said it reduced wind resistance. LOL! He didn't get to use it very often. Damn, that thing felt like getting stung by a thousand hornets.

Awww! Come on! You are exaggerating here! A thousand?

Maybe one on each cheek!
I hope my adult kids see this the same way, because they are people that I'm very proud of, and happy for. Ours was called 'The Boss.'
Don't tell anybody though! I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is on child battery!

I was on the receiving end. It was a thousand. My dad was a gymnast. He could swing that thing pretty hard! My butt was on fire for at least 15 minutes.

My kids felt the same, and went about their business. I had to find new ways to 'punish' them!! Geez! That was a lot of work!! Just trying to out think them was a full time job!!

BTW, not that it matters, but my parents beat the crap out of us, ignored us, and can't understand why we are independent of them.
