Just wondering how many kids you know who are feeling hopeless.
How many children with no father or father figure in their lives?

Most of the complaints I see about Common Core is the critical thinking aspect being enhanced and too stringent and complicated not that the process is "dumbed down".
Could you provide a few examples from a Common Core based curriculum that are on that end of the education spectrum?
A crumbling military? I thought that we were celebrating our veterans?
Who was it who said we have to go with what we have when it was exposed that our guys were under equipped when they first went to Iraq?
I think I remember huge investments in protecting our men and women ASAP after that. So, crumbling? I don't think so.
I think I recall that DOD has been funded pretty well despite sequestration. I would be more than willing to look at figures that show something different, though.

Jelun i am sorry you have not done your homework.. but we can still share a few things. I am happy to see more people involved in what is really going on in our country.. and i think you are one of those people.
But about me.. i have grand children in two states... ! i am on board of education..! And what they want to do... is " pass" kids, on . When i was young.. we had to work at getting good grades. You had no excuse.. or reason. I grew up poor. and had to work very hard for good grades. and my mother and father, had a time every day for study. since it is the most important activity a child can do.. to climb that ladder of success. Kids are bored today.. not enough mental challenge. so they wonder around and get into trouble. And pot smoking really takes the motivation right out of them.
2nd.. I have many friends that have sons in Military , and they say they do not have enough equipment, and are treated badly. Cannot usher a prayer . to their God.! Cannot mention the word Christmas, in some barracks.. or will be punished.
Is this the America we all grew up in ???

Saving this country is not about liberals or conservatives.., OR race or faith.. its about being Americans.. If we could all be a team / no one could ever hurt us . But now we are split off into all these groups... some h**e based.. some not.
Jelun.. i have really worked hard at getting my facts straight.
I look up statistics.. i read books from library about our history and others.. I make sure i watch not just one channel of news.. but many.. ! I am an independent.. so i can chooose the best person to lead this great nation... not a person with a title... like a liberal,, conservative.. democrat , republican. a man or woman .? It has to be in the soul and guts and intelligence of the person.. and what they have accomplished in the past. are they an honorable person? Do they have the love of the country? Do they honor our constitution..?
someone looking out for all of us.... not just a group here and there. A house divided against itself does not stand. And we have many out there just waiting for the right opportunity .
Our kids need fathers... our households need families in them. Or the kids just will not make it.. some will, but most won't. They need a solid foundation.. discipline and learning to respect authority. Don't think i am a know it all.. i am far from that. But i try to learn every day something new. Yes Jelun i am worried about families,, our country and its future.. thank you..

If you'd do a bit of honest research, you will discover that this has been going on for at least 40 years. Therefore, how can you blame any particular party of the conditions of today. Although you don't seem to be aware of it, conditions on the globe change and this country can no longer remain isolated.

Please make an effort to keep u with the global situation rather than listening and adopting propaganda. The greatest "trip-up" in our education system came with Bush's "No child left behind." His intention might have been something else but the way his decision became enforced caused the disaster. Do you think that perhaps the title he gave it could have been the problem? It leaves one open to numerous interpretations just as CC was not meant to be used to determine a teacher's continued employment. But it was interpreted as such. Whose fault is that?

It would be appreciated if, in your posts, you specify exactly what it bothering you rather than simply run down the anti-Obama list waved around by the right wing.

I must stress that your listing of "problems" looks like you used the "cut and paste" techniques which implies that you really have no experience of the actuality.

You do appear to be rather Right-leaning. Although you've spent your 75 years (hopefully) growing with our civilization, you, like the other Righties are still longing to get back to your past.

I'm pretty s**k of hearing people like you complain about our youth. This has been going on since time began. I have a few years on you and celebrate what "our kids" are accomplishing. Procreation means creating another generation - and not clones. It is always the youth that creates novel ideas and philosophies as well all our modern inventions. How long has it been since you created something new and unusual? If our marvelous youth heeded their elders, we would still be living in caves. It is obvious that you are following religious teachings and ave not yet begun to question. Without questioning, one remains stuck in the mire.

A long time ago I read a philosophy I try to live by. "If your life is too comfortable, do something different, else the brain dies."

Wake up! Be a bit skeptical - about everything and stop putting forth ideas that are so passe. Celebrate our youth - they're worth it.

And do you have something to add about the inconsistencies presented by that poster?
Complaints about Common Core are generally about complexity not "dumbing down" and yet here we have a woman who claims that she is on a Board of Education saying that it does.
Can YOU support that position because apparently she cannot?

Our Constitution is what is known as a "living document" which means its creators, being the educated men they were, allowed for change to take place with the passage of time. They realized that society does not remain static and allowed us (included in) the Bill of Rights which would allow succeeding generations the ability to bring this living document up to date. Too often the Right-wingers attempt to read the Constitution as they read the bible. i.e., literally. without accepting that is IS a living document created to keep up with "modern" thinking. We should be very grateful for their intelligence and philosophies.
