Perhaps you did not know -

"Mortal" MEANS "subject to death" which the mortal man indeed is.

Then he dies.

No longer "Mortal"

Now "IMMORTAL" as in "No longer subject to death.

The spirit in the body is a soul.

Separate, the body returns to dust whence it came, the spirit returns to God who gave it and the soul no longer is.

When upon resurrection, God re-unites the spirit with the resurrected body, man is now an immortal soul; i.e., no longer subject to death.

I think there may be some confusion as to how God has soul without body; and how it is we se terms usually confined to human application.

We did not write the bible. God wrote it by the hands of men. And it was God who said he has a soul and a heart.

God said it.

I believe it.

THAT settles it.

Are you saying I should only talk "baby talk" to you?

Stop making personal interpretations.

History needs to be listened to Carefully.
All "Souls" are immortal.
That is the battle we will all face.

Four possibilities -
1) The phrase "immortal soul" is found in scripture.
2) you have depended upon a commentary
3) you have made a personal interpretation
4) it is found in a version other than KJV

Please provide the scripture and version that references "immortal soul."

5) I'm an ignorant dumbass with no hope of proving my opinion.
My catholic schoolteacher taught me,and insured that my Soul, a small piece of God was immortal.
Unless of course, I so angered him that it would be banished to Satan's domain.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed.

That explains a lot. I was raised a Catholic and was zealously considering the priesthood, when I was expelled from Catechism class while in 8th grade for asking questions the teachers did not want to answer, dealing with the Spanish Inquisition and persecution. I obtained permission from the Bishop of Seattle, to study my bioble at home, when we moved out of the city to the country.

Quote:
Energy cannot be created or destroyed.

Until the ingredients of an explosive energy are placed in proximity, and mixed to form a compound consisting of potential energy, it will not become kinetic energy without a catalyst by which it becomes active. Energy can very much be "created."

And it can be destroyed, as when someone throws water on a fire. The kinetic is no longer even considered potential. It is simply "STUFF" which only a short while ago was kinetic (activated) energy.

And there is no scripture verse which says the soul is immortal, because "Mortal" is a reference to the body which has died, thus no longer subject to death.

As for your remark

I hasten to point out, everyone is ignorant about something. Ignorance is not a dirty word unless someone chooses to remain wallowing therein.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed,
Basic physics.
The law of conservation of energy.

"Basic Physics" is the pronouncement of MEN!

Instead of taking their word for everything, why don't you try to keep a fire going when it is in the bottom of a bucket of water.

1st- put in the potential source, kindling, paper and coal.
2nd- light the fire by striking a match and applying the flame to the potential energy, to convert it to kinetic energy.
3rd-douse the fire with water.
4th explain how the fire is no longer kinetic energy if energy cannot be destroyed.

You can destroy it by altering it beyond its capability to function as kinetic energy.

You can destroy it by dissipating it into the atmosphere.

While Physics teachers insist it simply changes shape but is still there as potential energy.

Even a Physicist can't burn a log till it is consumed, twice.

I appreciate your point of view, but it is skewed.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed.
at least as far as the Universe we observe is included.

The soul, by Christian definition, just means our humanity; it is not immortal.
