I have always thought that Nagins was re-elected because of his race. Any fools could have seen that his refusal to use the plan he had developed for removal of the people before a storm got them should have been put into effect. However, I am sure that he feared retaliation for forcibly removing people ahead of the storm hitting NOLA.

(Oldroy) Nagin was smart but other politcos wouldnt let him do the right things. Sounds like the Fed system doesnt it?

He said he didn't want to drive out all those tourists who were around Bourbon Street and they came out in good shape but those people in the 9th Ward who were supposed to be moved out, by his plan, wouldn't have liked being forced out. There may have been a question of race involved, too.

Hmmm,,, I think you are right,, It is easier to do nothing because then you don't have anything anyone can hold you to,,, kind of like Obama,,, take bush he did something and his critics destroyed him, but he stopped the initial onslaught, and beat the Taliban out of Afghanistan, and allowed some semblance of a govt to emerge,,, not great, but he did SOMETHING
