The government has just pumped in millions of dollars to help the desperate situation. This means that they also included incentives, especially from the city and state in buy in bonus for those willing to make start up business. That is an area that needs to be explored.

You second concern, also valid. But, to a business owner who is selling a product does it really matter the form of payment? Even if the customers are using food stamps to buy their burger, it is still money.

I don't live in Michigan, so I'm not sure how their food stamp program runs. It is different in each state. I know the state I live in one can not use food stamps to purchase fast food, but I have heard from other people that some states allow it.

I just looked up what states allow EBT cards to purchase fast food. Those states are California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas.

Since Detroit is an economic depressed area, one could surmise that a big part of his gross income comes from the food stamp program. In essence, we the taxpayer, are helping to pay that $15 per hour wage.

Then why are you b***hing? The article is about a business paying higher than normal wages. That's all. But most of the cons are so snarky and looking for a reason to dismiss this owners efforts. It seems that you and other complainers cannot link Obama or the government to this business and you are frustrated. Now take that cold shower, you might feel better.

Another asinine posting! Conservatives ARE NOT against higher wages! Man, you need to take those courses I suggested, you need them more than I originally thought. YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT WHAT IT TAKES TO RUN A PROFITABLE BUSINESS! I can't say it any plainer than that.

I am in AZ and I have seen people using their EBT cards at fast food. I have a grandson that loves Taco Bell, they have some vegan dishes so I do not mind taking him there. At first I was shocked to see people spending their rations in such a manner, it is less expensive and healthier to cook and eat at home, but then I suppose it is food of a nature and they have to eat.

But, that is off the subject. Sorry to ambush the thread.

Once again you have no clue what you run your yap about. The program is administered by the STATE, which has a REPUBLICAN governor, and the program has been in place since 1996, and all of the big chains accept the cards, with condidtions.
Read and learn something.

Because, as a taxpayer, I may be subsidizing that higher wage.

And, you can't prove he isn't receiving a large part of his income from food stamps either.

Man, I don't even know why I even bother responding to your blatantly ignorant posts.

Maybe because many of us actually ran businesses. I built a 10 Million dollar business from ZERO and created dozens of jobs. Something you most likely have never done.

Why are conservatives so against higher wages? It seems to go against the inherent greed factor that cons are burdened with. Perhaps all of that rightwingnut rhetoric about business can't afford to pay wages, or taxes or benefits is just wrong, and cons are having a tough time adjusting their thinking.

True, but would we not be paying for these people to sit and do nothing anyway. At least with a job that they can live on, they can see a brighter future and perhaps change the future of this failed city. To me, I would rather see jobs created than see cities continue to decline.

And the failure rate of a new business is over 50%. People risking their OWN money and creating jobs.

Stating the state has a GOP Governor means it doesn't exist? I am trying to follow this ?
