Wasting your time? An interesting phrase.

If you think its your time you're spending, then yes, every moment has been wasted. I don't have that problem, it isn't my time.

But as far as God's covenant, what you call the "old covenant" is not contingent upon his chosen people's obedience. You probably spend a great deal of time reading Pauline epistles trying to grasp what all of Paul's cognitive sk**ls didn't grasp. You know how his great cognitive sk**ls sent him to persecute the church?

What God has not revealed will remain concealed. I don't think God reveals the same things to everybody, because God knows what we need to understand and when we need to understand it.
Wasting your time? An interesting phrase. br br I... (show quote)

You are right to point out my ill-advised comment about "wasting my time." Thank you. It isn't my time, as well.

I have spent a great deal in reading the full gospel, and other books commenting on the Bible. Many other books. But I am, like you, human and limited.

This, however, really intrigues me; please explain: "...trying to grasp what all of Paul's cognitive sk**ls didn't grasp. You know how his great cognitive sk**ls sent him to persecute the church."

If I am remembering this correctly, Jesus told Peter to go and by a sword. You are right on that part. I'll read Luke, hold on..... Ok, Jesus told them not to give into temptation as he went to gethsemane, and they followed. Peter is the one who gave in to the temptation of using the sword, Jesus showed a miracle of compassion to a Roman Soldier come to take him into custody. It kind of plays itself out actually. Nothing symbolic other then leading up to Peter having to be a tough guy until it came down to the brass tactics at Jesus mock trial. Poor Peter, he was what you call running head first into that rock and not just being broken, but splatter. Jesus healed the agony in his heart though.

Odd that you should mention Peter... Anyhow, Luke 22:36-38. In a way there is and there isn't context to this passage, however, I'll leave it to your contemplation. I'll just tell you chronologically it is between the Last Supper and Gethsemane, according to Luke, the only gospel that mentions it.

What was Paul's conversion story? Did Paul's cognitive sk**ls not exist, before his conversion? I am quite certain they did. But he only understood what God revealed to him.
