Remember the Templars ? do you know how and why they originated ? Their first function was to provide safe passage for Pilgrims .

I'm not exonerating the Crusades , nor do I in anyway think them to have been altruistic .As for the Popes ? LOL...you got an hour or so ? The Popes financed and in several instances instigated them . There were 10 .Richard the Lionhearted bore no allegiance to any of the Popes .
Guess you never heard of Charlemagne and The Holy Roman Empire . LOL....holy being an historic designation and nothing more .
And that's not even to mention that muslims were by no means the original inhabitants of Palestine .Nor was it EVER a "holy place " for them . As a matter of fact Jerusalem is not even mentioned in the Q'uran
